This show went way beyond expectations, it was the first time curating a show and I am so grateful to amazing people who made this show so memorable. A special thank-you has to go out to the following legends, without them this show wouldn’t have happened: Top of the list goes to the amazing creatives who took part in the show, it meant a lot that to me that so many familiar faces were in this show, I loved being able to showcase your work. Also meeting creatives for the first time and displaying their incredibly skilled work was truly special too – just reinforces how varied our creative design community is. Noise Complaint (@noisecomplaint_au) – absolute royalty. Sully (@lazyfair) photographed this show and knocked it out of the park, he’s been shooting my stuff since day one and has an incredible eye, I couldn’t think of anyone else better to capture Off-Menu. Ari who fabricated these plinths and got the friction fit just right – sorry for the multiple revisions! PinkyPrint (@pinkyprint.co) for all the printed collateral; I am so happy with how everything turned out. Everyone who come in to see the show, it was a pleasure chatting with you and showing you all the incredible work. Where do I even begin? Noise Complaint (@noisecomplaint_au) have been incredible hosts and I couldn’t imagine Off-Menu without them. From planning, to guidance, to running around on opening night; a heartfelt forever thank-you goes to them. I greatly appreciate their skill as creatives too, for the week that the show was on I got to peak behind the curtain (literally) and see the projects that they are working on; their output as a creative studio is top tier. Front Room Off-Menu had 3 main sections, grouping work of each participant with similar objects, practices and/or finishes. The front room was dedicated to all things metal – with each practice showing a wide array of design and fabrication precision. I greatly appreciated how each practice highlighted how versatile metal can be; be it in robust or minimal profiles, material types, fabrication processes, or various finishes. Sedni Studio @sedni.studio Atu Standing Floor Lamp Atu has an asymmetric rail which sits atop each piece and flows into one another, nothing to define the start nor the end. Interwoven into the rail is a chain mesh lamp shade, which drapes unrestricted down the length of the diffuser. Taking ques from motorcycle design, the range incorporates the flow of movement and a sense of direction that is distinctive to the visual language of motorcycles. Rafi Coffee Table Rafi takes inspiration from clothing production. Meaning seam in Greek, design cues come from aspects of fashion I admire; the flow of fabric, differing textures, the silhouette & structure of a garment, and seam & hem detailing. The finish of each individual upright, side panel, base plate & tabletop, is able to be changed as an expression of you or your environment. ~~~ Off-Menu 2026 asked 18 creatives to exhibit X2 items from their practice. X1 item they are known for. X1 item they would like more exposure for. Take us back to melb design week! 😭 We had the best time ever opening our doors for the week and meeting everyone who came to check out @___offmenu. @___offmenu group exhibition 14/5/26 - 21/5/26 In 2023 I entered vivid emerging designers to prove to myself that I could create nice products. When I was there I discovered Melbourne Design Week and told myself ill be invited to it one day. That one day was MDW 2026 and I was invited to be a part of a @___offmenu group exhibition hosted by @sedni.studio. I was absolutely blown away by the sheer talent presented at this group exhibition and MDW in general. 2 key take away for me was - I need to lock in even more, if I ever want to be as good as the designers presenting in MDW. Even though im participating in it this year i can see the skill gap. Not being hard on myself its just the reality and its exciting because I know I can get there soon. - I bloody need to move to Melbourne asap, the more I can immerse myself around these types of designs and the designers the more I can grow. Because right now its just me at home and markets. Seeing people ahead of me in my field will go along way. Thank you Daniel for inviting me and hosting (while moving houses to boot), honestly a highlight of the year 🙏
