Today someone told me that parents who post their children asking for help should “get in trouble.”

And all I could think was… have you ever been vulnerable enough to have to ask for help?

Because I have.

Asking people for help when you cannot provide something your child needs is one of the hardest, most humbling things a parent can do. You swallow your pride. You open up the parts of your life you wish you could keep private. You risk judgment.

But when your child has a need… you do what you have to do.

That is what a mother does!

Before we judge someone asking for help, maybe we should ask ourselves what it took for them to finally ask.

This is Carla.
This is a mother’s cry for help.

Adaer’s mom has endured things no mother should have to endure while raising a disabled child. Watching your child suffer is one of the deepest heartbreaks a mother can carry. But imagine that pain being multiplied by poverty… by knowing what your child needs and simply not having the resources to provide it.

Disability and poverty should never have to collide like this.

We have reached our halfway point: $3,565 raised.
And I believe we can keep going.

Let’s be the hands and feet of God. Let’s answer this mother’s cry with action.

Because when one mama cries… we show up.

Need to shout out nurses today. In this crazy life we live, with all of the trips to the ER and weekly checkups with specialists, etc. we hold on so tightly to the people and moments that give us hope in the struggle. We had a big appointment the other day….one of those that always brings with it anxiety and fear….but the nurse that day redeemed it with her kindness, care and affection. Not only that, she went above and beyond and did some behind-the-scenes work for us to look for extra medical equipment as a favor for us…..something her job does not require her to do, and frankly, added to her day and her stress between back-to-back appointments with other patients (and probably took from her those few moments to breathe and rest between patients). But she did it for us…and will never get an award or pay-raise for things like this. To all the nurses out there….we see you. We love you. For the sake of families like ours, don’t ever give up. You’re the source of healing for our brokenness! #nurseappreciation #disability #seen #spinabifida #specialneedsparenting

Everyone hates having to waste time on hold with customer service or insurance. But one of the many things the average person can’t imagine or comprehend (unless you live with chronic, long term medical challenges or disability) is the sheer number of hours spent waiting on hold. EVERY week. (and that’s not just limited to Medicaid….private insurance is just as bad!) The lost hours added up and the wedge it drives right smack in the middle of a busy day, takes a heavy toll on the parent and the children, and means that so many goals get left unfinished. One of the hidden battles families like ours have to deal with on a regular basis! So be patient and kind…you never know what kind of day someone’s having! #specialneedsdad #spinabifida #disability #fatherhood #757

This is Mikey and his beautiful family. Katia had the honor of hosting this incredible family and their big crew of support. They came rolling deep, and you could truly feel the love walking in with them.

We were so honored to sit together, break bread, laugh, and watch our favorite team in the world.

We know what it means to be Mets fans, and we also know what it means to walk through hard seasons in life. Somehow, both have taught us to keep believing, to stay hopeful, and to never give up, even when we feel like we are at the very bottom.

Mike, you and your family reminded us just how powerful love, support, and being surrounded by your people can be.

Two Sundays ago, our little family was invited to experience a day we’ll never forget—watching the Mets from the Lindor family’s private suite at Citi Field. Seeing the game through Scottie’s eyes, spending time together, and simply soaking in every moment made for one of those days you wish you could replay over and over.

Sometimes the best memories don’t need a trending sound or a voiceover… just the crack of the bat, the cheers from the crowd, and a beautiful summer afternoon with the people you love and new friends ⚾️ 🍎

A heartfelt thank you to @seen_nonprofit for creating opportunities like this for families, and to @katia.lindor for your incredible generosity and hospitality. Your kindness made us feel so welcomed, and we’ll cherish these memories for years to come!
