❤️❤️ Happy birthday to my dearest sister Dr. Connie Wun. @seewun

She has received numerous national awards, scholarships and accolades, and has done the unheard of several times. Several. Times. She’s that girl. And continues to be.

She is a fierce protector and a wise elder and anyone she chooses to love and care for is very fortunate to have her in their life. She is often a lifeline for many and has been since she was kid. She’s definitely mine.

Thank you sister for being the best elder AND sister. You are life giving and life changing and this world and lifetime are very lucky to have you.

Sending you only the wisest and most deepest love and appreciation , sis. Nothing less. You deserve nothing less and much more. Nothing less will be accepted.

A proud sister moment. A proud professional moment. A proud me moment.

I started AAPI Women Lead with my savings while working part time as a youth worker in 2018. I whole heartedly believed in my vision, my politics, my training, my skillset, my Vietnamese hustle, myself and in sisterhood. I left my career as an urban planner after some awful shit went down and I asked my sister to help create something new, something from scratch that would make education and research accessible and transformative. with the support of volunteers and hella hustle we were able to get some seed funding. Since then we’ve been creating a space outside of violent institutions. We’ve been able to reach over 150k people across our platforms and through our educational events. We’ve paid staff, consultants, speakers, fellows, researchers, and created mutual aid funds and so much more.

🎉🎉AND we’ll be launching our first ever community driven and centered report on violence in ANHPI communities. My mind is blown. And I am reminded to always bet on yourself, sisterhood, and community.

Today we were on KTVU and Connie did a great job representing what we’re about and I’m so proud of our hard work. (There’s something about KTVU that’s very nostalgic. It reminds me of my grandparents watching Dennis Richmond). we’ve been through and are going through a lot. But we manage to do our best to show up and be our best for each other and the people we serve.

Thank you to all the amazing people who have been with us since day one. Thank you to those who have joined us in creating a new world. Thanks to everyone who pushes us to be sharper, smarter, creative and brilliant. Thank you to our incredible staff, both current and past, for being a part of this moment and movement.

🔮🔮Join us on May 24th in Oakland to celebrate the launch of our ground breaking report and stay for some healing, wellness and power building offerings!! It’s going to be great. Check out @aapiwomenlead and donate!

I’ve been working with my therapist on honoring + celebrating wins and my goodness as part of healing from ptsd, depression and anxiety. thanks for reading this far and being with me. ❤️
