Willkommen in der Eisbär Familie, Lukas! 🐻‍❄️🏃‍♂️
Laufen ist für @segierles mehr als nur Sport – es ist Motivation, Ausgleich und pure Leidenschaft. Genau diese Energie bringt er ab sofort auch als neuer Eisbär Markenbotschafter mit. 💪

85 Kilometer, 3670 Höhenmeter und jede Menge Leidenschaft. 🏔️

I won an international kendama event.

I was never ever a competitive person. Even when I was younger playing sports I always enjoyed the act of participating and playing sports rather than competing to see who is better at the sport.

I was also way more into the creative side of things.
I always liked creating stuff because you can do it even if you are really bad at it or if you have no reason to. There is no outside pressure in the act of being creative, which I did feel while I was playing sports.

This is why I love kendama so much. It had given me a tool to express the creative side of my mind while also playing a sport, without any of the inherit pressure to do well at it.

At some point there were more local jams and comps popping up. All of a sudden I started to develop my love for competing. At some point I won my first freestyle jam in Leiden but it wasn’t until I went to my second international event that I really started to take competing seriously. After that event I tried to go to as many international events as possible. Never won once, no big deal.

At the beginning of 2024 I set myself a goal: podium an international event.
I had been playing kendama daily for 4 years at that point and I really wanted to prove to myself that I can get to a podium.

Once again, I went to every event I could go to. And at every event I was trying these weird selfdestructive tactics to get myself more focused, like fasting until I lost to keep me “sharp”.

And once again, I never won an event. I got 4th twice but that’s it. And most of the time it was not a fun experience, because I was just hungry and losing all the time. This really demotivated me to the point where I was actually questioning my own skill level and motivation to play kendama.

Up until this year. Starting it off at @ekc.prelims I had one of the best times trying to qualify for freestyle, so when I went to @viennakendamaopen I just wanted to recreate that feeling.

And it fucking worked. I took good care of myself, ate a lot, drank a lot of water, played a lot of kendama and it just happened.

Everything is possible, go chase it, have fun.
Much love<3
