Monstrilio - Gerardo Sámano Córdova

A thought-provoking meditation on grief, acceptance, and the monstrous sides of love and loyalty, Gerardo Sámano Córdova’s debut novel blends bold imagination and evocative prose with deep emotional rigor. Told in four acts that span the globe from Brooklyn to Berlin, Monstrilio offers, with uncanny clarity, a cathartic and precise portrait of being human.

account tags incoming.. “r u performing or are u expressing?”.. I think the distinctions for me between performance and expression is genuine expression (as a reaction/response) is usually a lot messier/unfiltered.

They call it performative. We call it a reading agenda.

Choosing books with intention. Making time to read. Staying curious. Building a life that includes stories, ideas, and perspectives beyond our own. Because reading publicly is still cooler than scrolling endlessly.

This didn't feel like just a story . It felt like a warning
System carefully built ,step by step - slowly enough that people didn't even realise what they were losing especially women
They used religion ,biology and even environmental subjects to create fear to convince people why women should have designated roles in world
Painful part : it wasn't just men controlling women - women were made to control other women
Woman's identity was reduced to just one purpose reproduction with state designed rape system for upper class families
It makes us feel how resistance doesnt always look loud and heroic
Sometimes it's quiet.Sometimes it's surviving ,remembering who you are inside

And even when the story becomes mere piece of history ,of past happenings - voices of women were questioned ,doubted, analysed in year 2195 as if their reality they survived needs approval

I interpreted the novel as a warning about a future where organizations and data systems become powerful enough to shape reality itself. Tom's struggle suggests that when institutions control records and information, individuals may lose the ability to prove their own experiences. The story feels increasingly relevant in an age of AI, surveillance, and digital databases.

The most frightening question the book asks : If very record says you're wrong ,but you know you're right , what is the truth then?

The most terrifying prisons are not built with iron bars , they are built inside conciousness itself.

Jones becomes more than a ruler , he becomes a man trapped inside the fantasy of his own authority.
