The Fallible Path (2026)
Porcelain

The Fallible Path was inspired from the Japanese Roji, the garden path leading towards the tea house, traditionally understood as a passage between the everyday world and a space of contemplation. As one walks along the Roji, the outside world is gradually left behind, creating a transition towards stillness, presence and spiritual clarity.
Here, this pathway is reimagined through the fragile forms of bleached coral, five individual pieces sculpted using porcelaine. The paving stones that create the path take their forms from coral at the threshold between life and death: after losing its vibrant colour and microscopic algae, the living organism is reduced to a pale, intricate skeletal structure. What remains is at once extraordinarily beautiful and deeply unsettling—a trace of life transformed by a changing environment.
By translating these forms into the stones of a path, I place the remains of a threatened ecosystem beneath the viewer’s feet. The act of walking becomes an encounter with what has been lost, while the path itself becomes a space of contemplation.
The Roji traditionally prepares the body and mind to enter a state of awareness. Here, that movement towards awareness is redirected towards our relationship with the natural world. The path becomes a quiet confrontation with the consequences of human activity and the fragile ecosystems with which we coexist.
Between contemplation and destruction, beauty and loss, life and its remains, the installation asks where awareness begins and whether recognition can become the first step towards change.

Borrowed Life (2026)
Porcelain, Pistachio tree

Borrowed life consists of five small elements inspired by the fragile structures of bleached coral. Each piece is individually attached to the bark of a living tree, appearing almost as a series of pale, parasitic growths emerging from its surface.
Their stark, deathly white forms stand in contrast to the organic life of the tree. One living organism becomes the host for the imagined remains of another, creating a quiet encounter between growth and decay, vitality and loss.
The installation explores the fragile interdependence of the natural world, while the juxtaposition between the living tree and the ghostly remnants of coral invites a moment of reflection on the impact of human actions upon the ecosystems with which we coexist.
