ONE YEAR AGO, Self-Publishing with Dale called his shot and, by the end of the year, made it happen!

@selfpubwithdale became the OCA Ultimate Championship Belt winner in our 2025 Clash of Champions contest!

His journey to the top wasn't a smooth, flat, and easy path-- it was a climb!

His first book in our contests, "Secrets of the Permafree Book," received an 8.6/10 in our 2022 Spring Contest, falling short of an overall win in Non-Fiction.

His second book in our contests, “Self-Publishing for New Authors," competed in our 2024 Clash of Champions contest. It managed to win 1st-place in Non-Fiction and an OCA trophy, but fell just short of the championship belt.

Declaring his intentions to win the ultimate prize, Dale entered "Wide Publishing for Authors," which finished in 3rd-place in Non-Fiction in our 2025 Spring Contest, falling just short again.

However, Dale didn't give up. He remained determined to earn the OCA Ultimate Championship Belt through sheer quality of his work.

And HE DID IT!

In our 2025 Clash of Champions contest, he earned a 9.6/10 score (tying our highest score ever) and won the grand prize with his "Self-Publishing with Dale Omnibus!"

Dale stands as a reminder that the life of an author and a creator is not a straight arrow to the top of the ladder. It's often riddled with ups and downs, twists and turns, setbacks, disappointments, and opportunities to build, learn, grow, and challenge ourselves.

Think you can be like Dale?

Compete in our 2026 Clash of Champions contest! Enter at OutstandingCreator.com today!

The contest is open to everyone with a book to share. Compete alongside previous winners in our final contest of the year!

We've all seen the love-in for indie authors. And I saw the opening to @selfpubwithdale's latest YouTube video and thought, "Dale's nailed it again". Timing is everything.

I've had a bookstagram friend who again (!) made a kind gesture. I'm also pleased to be part of a group chat where fellow authors share and support. Many of whom continue to respond and share each other to support the community. Generally, I feel the love. Do you?

Is there a point to this post? Not really. Just wanted to thank the community and encourage everyone to stay nice. Because as Dale says, Indie Authors are some of the most helpful and generous people you'll meet.

My thanks to @charlottewittwer, @davehaywoodauthor, @victoria.slate.writes, @tiffdaviswrites, @aeward_official, @tessybraun_writer, and @harley.withers.writes amongst many others for their simple messages.

Dale L. Roberts is back on Inside Scoop Live, this time for Email Marketing for Authors.
Amazon can change the rules overnight. Social platforms can lock you out. Your email list is the one thing that's actually yours.
Dale breaks down how to start a list from scratch, what to write when you have no idea what to say, and why a big list isn't the same as a good one. He also makes the case that you can earn from your list without pushing a single book sale.
If you've been putting this off, this episode is for you.

Too early for abduction and ritual sacrifices?

Imagine waking up strapped to an ancient stone altar...

No idea where you are.

No idea who took you.

Only the sound of chanting...

...and something moving in the darkness.

Would you fight?

Or pretend to be unconscious until you found your chance?
