Florence was brewing the haze before “hazy IPA” even had an official category. 🎮🍺

Pixels has been part of Seminar Brewing’s lineup since 2016 and has grown into one of the beers most closely associated with the brewery.

That timing is pretty wild. The Brewers Association didn’t formally establish Juicy/Hazy IPA categories until 2018.

Seminar’s story makes it even better. The brewery began with university professors and friends gathering to talk homebrewing at what they jokingly called their Wednesday Night Seminar.

Years later, there’s Pixels. 7.2%. New England-style IPA. Retro 8-bit artwork.

Right there on the can: Pride of Florence.

Nearly ten years in, this one isn’t chasing the haze craze anymore. It survived it.

• Beer: Pixels
• Style: New England IPA
• ABV: 7.2%

Before hazy IPA had an official category, Florence was already brewing one!

Pixels has been part of Seminar Brewing’s story since 2016, two years before the Brewers Association formally recognized Juicy/Hazy IPA as its own competition style.

Nearly a decade later, this 7.2% New England-style IPA is still one of the beers that defines Seminar.

Soft body. Big hop character. Citrus and tropical fruit territory. Enough bitterness to remind you there’s still an IPA underneath the haze.

Wrapped around it all is one of my favorite little details: Pride of Florence.

A brewery born from professors gathering to talk about beer eventually created a beer that gives us a lesson in how American IPA changed.
