Jim Semple, combines design, fabrication, engineering and art - to create items that evoke feeling and enrich lives. With a business specialising in bespoke design and fabrication - Semple Solutions. Jim has a deep understanding of material properties and the importance of efficient, calculated production processes. Paired with his constraint-free space of artistic expression - Semple Stuff. He explores unusual and unseen processes, pushing engineering limits within design. From the overlooked and ordinary everyday items, to sculptural furniture that blurs the line between object and art. All without losing sight of both function and form. Jim always had an innate and unshakeable desire to design and build. Something he deems is instinctively human. After high school, he started making, and never stopped. Through persistence and obsession, Jim has developed a fruitful relationship with design and aims to make β€˜Semple’ synonymous with design. Working primarily with clay, Ailish explores the relationship between natural forms and the domestic environment. Her ceramic workuses traditional hand-building techniques, including coil and slab construction. Each piece is shaped by hand, where subtle imperfections reveal the traces of its making, blurring the line between functional object and sculptural form. Introducing the β€˜Dog House’ , for @everyone The Dog House is so much more than just a stylish home for your beloved pet. It is a product you’ll love not just for what I’ve put into it, but for what you do too. Sold as raw plywood and designed to be styled by the customer to match its surroundings, it is the perfect, leisurely, diy activity for you and your friends, children or lover. (and dog) This isn’t you’d ordinary flat pack either. With its tool-less assembly, anyone can put it together. George and I have been rigorously testing, refining and improving this product for well over a year and I’m just so excited to be finally sharing it with all of you. Currently available in two sizes, medium (pictured) and large, you can purchase one from my website, you can find the link in my bio. Big love, Jim and George ❀️ product testing @george pics by @isaacurban

I’ve had this idea bouncing around my head for a while and finally made it exist! Amongst a sea of designers, I aim to distinguish myself by combining the skills I’ve developed in other areas like my stainless automotive work. As well as the raw, borderline utilitarian and minimal style that I naturally lean towards. The most notable point about this design is the lack of structural members between either tube side profile. The torsional rigidity comes from the cumulative strength of each 5mm rod. Additionally, the aim was for the rod to have a certain amount of β€˜give’ and that, it does! If nothing else, it’s these creative experiences that help me build my skills and understand material limitations. Jim and George signing off. #design #furniture #stainlesssteel #fabrication #tigwelding

I call this one β€œFYS” - f*ck your shins. The result of a day of tinkering with the cnc router, starring @james_burian . Designed on the day with whatever materials were on hand. I think you’ll be seeing this one again… It’s just asking for an acrylic base 😏
