If there’s one thing better than chasing carp on the fly, it’s doing it with a great group of people.

Schmoots Clooper is one of those weekends we look forward to every year. Catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, and spending time with a community that’s just as obsessed with carp as we are never gets old.

Thanks to everyone who shared some water, a conversation, or a laugh with us. House of Fly is always proud to be part of it. Until next year. 🎣

Last Saturday, members of the Evergreen Fly Fishing Club had their first @flyfishersinternational FFi FCSD (Fly Casting Skills Development Course) at American Legion Park in Everett, WA. Four Certified Fly Casting Instructors from FFi ( Fly Fishers International) led our members through a self-paced casting course. The instruction was top notch, the weather was beautiful and lots of members participated. Our members worked their way through Bronze level with some members achieving Silver and touching on Gold. We will certainly have another FCSD, with the possibility of opening up the course to non-members also. Special thanks to FFi Master Casting Instructors Marion Hiller, Steve Hiller, Frank Koterba, and Neil Hoffberg for making the journey to us and making our outing a success! #evergreenflyfishingclub #flyfishersinternational #flycasting #flycastingskills #andagoodtimewashadbyall

We could not have been blessed with a nicer weekend for Speyapalooza. Thanks to the many who waved big sticks in the Skagit with us on Saturday. Thanks to all of our fabulous vendors for showing up with the good stuff and for North Sound Trout Unlimited’s tireless efforts in bringing us all together. The fun continued on Sunday with an awesome volunteer spawner survey crew to help count steelhead redds on a couple of Skagit tributaries. Monday capped off an already perfect weekend with a few big fly caught lingcod in the North Sound for Brandon and I. We are already looking forward to next year’s Speyapalooza!

This Volunteer Appreciation Week, we’re recognizing the people who power every part of our work.

Across 21 states and 2 Canadian provinces, iFishiBelong is 98% volunteer-driven, admin, operations, financial, outreach, marketing/communications, event planning, and more. Every role, every detail, every step forward is made possible by people who choose to show up.

A lot of this work isn’t glamorous. It happens behind the scenes, in spreadsheets, emails, planning calls, logistics, and long days that no one sees. But it’s exactly what sustains our programs and keeps our mission moving.

Because of our volunteers, we’re building a more inclusive future for fishing, one event, one connection, one opportunity at a time.

We appreciate you. We rely on you. And we’re grateful for everything you give to this community.

Thank you to the 2025 @ifishibelong Team!! Behind every cast, every connection, and every moment of belonging, there’s a dedicated team making it all possible.

Meet the iFiB volunteers, program and committee leads, and board members, who bring our mission to life.

We also want to acknowledge that our current volunteer team does not yet reflect the full diversity of the communities we advocate for. Because iFishiBelong grew out of @unitedwomenonthefly, our foundation began from a more homogenous place. Every day, we are working intentionally to build a broader, more diverse team, board, and leadership group that truly mirrors the angling community.

We are deeply proud and grateful for the volunteers who show up with passion and purpose now, and we look forward to welcoming new voices, new perspectives, and new leaders as we continue this work. Could this be you? Please contact volunteer@ifishibelong.org or go to https://ifishibelong.org/volunteer/.

This week, we’re launching our 2025 @ifishibelong Giving Tuesday and year-end fundraising message: Why Operations Matter.

You see the smiles, the fish, the community. But behind all of it? Operations.

The planning. The outreach. The coordination.
The inclusion and representation work that ensures everyone belongs. All powered by volunteers.

The heart of impact is built behind the scenes.

Swipe to see what operational funding truly supports ➡️

This Giving Tuesday, make a contribution to help fuel the heart of iFishiBelong. Go to https://ifishibelong.org/donate [LINK IN BIO].

Every gift keeps this mission moving.

Several members having fun catch and release pink salmon on the pink fly this week. The salmon season is heating up and this year’s pink salmon run is predicted to be a big one. Many of the humpies are still in the salt but we are starting to see them in the rivers too. Super fun on the fly rod and boy are they strong. #evergreenflyfishingclub #pinksalmon #pinksalmononthefly #getafterthem #catchandrelease #pinkflies

Made friends I’ll never forget, took tequila shots before most people had coffee, wrestled the wind like it owed us money, found water worth the trouble—and caught some golden ghosts at @bill.marts legendary Schmoots Clooper. Life’s better when you share it with the right weirdos. 🐟💨🥃❤️ #SchmootsClooper #WhoYouShareItWith #CarpDiems #CarpOnTheFly #ifishibelong
