A large example of an ammonite called Arietities bucklandi preserved in a limestone block ! These large ammonites are fantastic to find at low tide along the Jurassic Coast, you can see them often and leave them for others to see. There is a plastic model of an ammonite too and this shows you the morphology of an ammonite. Mary Anning (1799-1847) was the famous fossil lady of Lyme Regis. She allegedly had much time for children and helped them learn about the fossils of Lyme Regis. It’s a very down to earth subject learning about our prehistoric past @lymeregisfossils #fossil#ammonite#maryanningmonday

Fossil hunting along the Jurassic Coast at low tide is good. You can see the big ammonite impressions on the beach and leave them there for others to see too. It’s always fun 🤩 visiting these prehistoric historic natural wonders. Mary Anning Monday ! The famous fossil lady of Lyme Regis was called Mary Anning( 1799-1847) She recognised that you could find coprolites washed out onto the beaches, back in her day- at low tide at Lyme Regis! She must have made some fascinating discoveries as these coprolites often have inclusions in like fish scales ! They can even be found with vertebrae in them too . @mikeharrisonfossils filmed me making this little shark 🦈 coprolite fossil find ! #fossilhunter#lyneregisbeach#maryanningmonday
