Today is a an important day for me! On October 18th, 2018 I moved from NYC to Europe, and I first landed in the Portuguese countryside.

8 years later, with a 6 year old yoga studio in Madrid and a 3 year old son, I’m coming back to Portugal to lead a retreat and it kind of feels like a big deal. (We only have 3 rooms left, if you wanna join!) 8 is also my favorite number.

The Portuguese countryside — the place where I first arrived as a somewhat fearful, insecure, frustrated twenty something year old, all tangled up in thoughts of whether or not it had been a good decision to leave behind my NYC life— now is a place that represents perseverance, resilience, transcendence, and breakthrough to me.

I’m so grateful for those first tough years in Europe because they showed me how I needed to evolve from a fixation on the physical/ mental/emotional plane to the presence of something that was more eternal and more infinitely available in me.

As Gabrielle Roth puts it - “the first stage in self mastery is determining who we are not, only then can we determine who we are. Likely who you are not, is presently who you think you are.”

I realize how important it is to identify the roles we’ve been playing in life. Recognize the patterns, the repetitive plot lines, our modes of behavior, the ego and its different characters .

To learn ultimately, the big difference between living from the ego mind, and living from the soul.

It takes discipline to be a free spirit. The whole point of our self-care practice is that we ultimately do it for the people around us and the world around us. Whatever practice we cultivate, it’s not really about us, it’s a commitment to become a better person and create a better ripple effect into the world.

When we have the time and space to step away from the demands of daily life and go deeper into a practice, we can reconnect with a more authentic way of showing up for ourselves and ultimately for the world around us.

Our Costa Brava retreat, a recap :)

Morning mindfulness meditations and deep asana practices, nourishing plant based food from local farms, beach and sauna afternoons, and evening sound sessions.

Super grateful for the 5 days we shared together at our last Costa Brava retreat.

For almost two decades, I’ve been moving through the language of *opposite flows* … between chaos and stillness, structure and surrender, inward reflection and collective exchange.

Today, that path takes shape as I complete my 300HR yoga teacher training in somatics + yin 🧚🏽‍♀️✨ where movement listens, stillness speaks and presence lives in the details.

Not about mastering balance, but honoring the space where it all meets: more truth, more awareness, and a willingness to stay with whatever shows up.

As always, feet on the ground, head in the clouds - bending space and time.
