2970 Lake Shore Blvd W, once a vibrant part of New Toronto’s fabric.

Built in the late 1950’s as a commercial space, home to local art studios and community life. A 9 storey rental housing proposal was brought forward for the site, but was denied by the City. A building with history, now caught in limbo.

What was once the heart of a neighbourhood is now part of its decline. This building is a visible reminder of what 15 years of failed leadership and the delegated-authority disaster. Our neighbourhoods deserves better than boarded-up promises.

Time for real leadership and a clear vision. Vote for change in October!

Where are all the anti-shelter groups? If you don’t want more shelters then we should have seen you protesting Bill 60. Affordable and predictable rent helps keep people housed. Where is the integrity of a government that skips the public consultation and only meets with corporate landlords? Interestingly we didn’t see the loud voices of Integrity TO, New Toronto Initiative or Niagara Neighbours. If you’re serious about wanting to keep people housed and out of encampments & shelters, lobby the source. DOUG FORD.

“On Friday, Evangeline Link began her fourth annual Thanksgiving weekend walk from Binbrook, Ont. to Toronto, which is a roughly 100-kilometre trek. Called Evangeline Walks, the fundraiser raises money for Covenant House, the largest agency in Canada serving youth age 16 to 24 who are homeless, trafficked, or at-risk. So far, it has raised more than $45,000 and others have been inspired to take part.” Considering that between 25% and 50% of youth exiting foster care experience precarious housing or homelessness within a year, this is an incredible cause for a child to have organized. Some Toronto residents have raised similar amounts but are instead using it to sue the city for building homeless shelters in their communities. It’s heartening to see young people with empathy and drive to help others in need. ❤️
