🛸 MOTHERSHIP CONNECTED: THE WOMEN OF PARLIAMENT-FUNKADELIC

📍 Community Book Center, 2523 Bayou Rd, New Orleans
📅 Wednesday, October 28
🕕 6:00–7:00 p.m.
🎟️ FREE

Join author Seth Neblett and Parliament-Funkadelic veteran and former Parlet member Shirley Hayden for a special conversation and book signing for ‘Mothership Connected: The Women of Parliament-Funkadelic.’

I’ll be moderating the discussion as we talk about P-Funk *and* the women whose voices, musicianship, creativity, and experiences are essential to the P-Funk story — and whose histories finally receive deeper attention thanks to the @mothershipconnected oral-history book.

This event is part of Mothership Month, my month-long celebration of Parliament-Funkadelic and the 50th anniversary of the first-ever P-Funk Mothership landing — which happened right here in New Orleans on October 27, 1976. 🛸

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.

Come through, hear stories, meet Shirley and @sethamillion (also the son of Mallia “Queen of Funk” Franklin, pictured in final slide), get your book signed, enjoy complimentary P-Funk designer cookies from @thecookiecatalog (while they last), support the wonderful @readcbc, and celebrate the P-Funk legacy.

🛸 MOTHERSHIP CONNECTED: THE NEW GIRLS BOARD THE MOTHERSHIP

When Lynn Mabry and Dawn Silva joined Parliament-Funkadelic in 1977, they thought they were joining a family. But Debbie Wright and Jeanette Washington were already part of that family—and the arrival of two new singers changed the dynamics.

There were questions about who would sing which parts, tensions backstage, and a whole lot of personalities aboard the Mothership. 🎤

In today’s episode of 15 DAYS. 15 STORIES. ONE MOTHERSHIP, hear how Lynn and Dawn remember their arrival—and what it took for the new girls to find their place.

📖 To celebrate the first anniversary of Mothership Connected: The Women of Parliament-Funkadelic, I have a limited number of personally signed copies available at MothershipConnected.com. Link in bio!
