This weekend, one word found its way into conversations at SEVA, spoken in different ways by different guests. “I come here because I’m part of the community.” “I’m looking for community.” “I feel like I belong.” Three different sentiments, perhaps pointing towards the same quiet human desire: to find a place that becomes more than a place. Community is a beautiful kind of trespassing. A slow crossing of invisible borders. The unfamiliar finding its way under your skin. Strangers rearranging the furniture of your mind. Small encounters leaving permanent marks on rooms within you that you didn’t know existed. You arrive as one person. You leave with traces of others you can no longer separate from yourself. Perhaps belonging was never about finding your place. Perhaps it was about allowing yourself to be changed by the people who pass through it. SEVA. A place where we leave a little of ourselves and carry a little of everyone.
