NEXTGEN: Introducing Frewioni Baume @sevenhoneybees
Beekeeper 🐝 Environmental Advocate

Frewoini’s country childhood hobby grew into a career protecting one of agriculture’s most vital species. A scholarship took her across the Pacific working on parasitic mites in honeybees.

Now crowned 2026 Queen of Casino Beef Week, she’s championing the opportunities agriculture offers and the richness of regional life. @casinobeefweek

At NEXTGEN, Frewoini shares her “Plan Bee”, the people and work driving her commitment to positive social and environmental impact.

The Queen of Casino Beef Week 2026 is Frewoini Baume, a 25-year-old beekeeper from Lismore.

I was honoured to coach and mentor the finalists, helping them with personal branding and presentation skills. For most, they had never held a microphone on stage or networked a room with purpose. This was their chance to be seen and heard for what matters to them.

Frewoini is passionate about social and environmental issues, from youth involvement in regional communities to biosecurity, climate change and the future of sustainable Australian beef.

Through the Queen competition, she has developed a deep understanding of the Nguni cow, a hardy breed resistant to pests and disease, helping reduce chemical use.

She also hopes to use her platform to champion multiculturalism in agriculture and encourage knowledge sharing across Asia and the Pacific.

Mi stavo quasi dimenticando due cose molto importanti.
La prima, come mi disse @amandabobstt un paio di anni fa, è “don’t let anything stop you from loving”.

La seconda è “it’s all about fun”.

From magazine cut-outs of bees on her bedroom wall to speaking on a panel at the BBM Centenary Grand Celebration, Global Footprints Scholar Frewoini Baume’s journey shows how youth-led action can transform industries and communities.

Through her scholarship, she’s tackled climate challenges, shared knowledge across continents, and empowered the beekeeping industry in Australia and beyond.

“There’s no point waiting for someone else to do it… doing something can absolutely be you”
~ Frewoini Baume

On this International Youth Day, with the theme ‘Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond’, her story reminds us that when young people turn passion into purpose, local action can ripple across the world.
