Finished this dress just in time for yesterday’s Thanksgiving dinner.

It’s the @stylapatterns Aston sewn in our double knit and its slightly heavier weight makes it perfect for winter makes - especially great timing since we woke up to a few inches of snow this morning.

If you’re looking for more great fabrics for your winter makes, I’ve added a few more looks from fellow sewists that might inspire you.

@sewingwithcway + unconventional fabric uses + burgundy = always a win in our books. Jasmine recently used our Ventana twill for this dress and how cute did this turn out? I’ve previously planned to use it for pants, skirts, and jackets but now I’m obsessed with how ruffles look in this more structured fabric. Swipe to the end for another semi-unconventional use of one of our fabrics by Jasmine: a mini dress sewn in French Terry.

Take a look at all the pieces @sewingwithcway was able to sew up from just two yards of fabric! 🤯 Here’s what she had to say about her sewing philosophy: “One of the reasons I like to sew my kids’ clothing is because I love that they have custom pieces that no one else in their school will have. BUT another reason why I sew for my kids, is that I want to avoid the trap of the Fast Fashion World of waste. Making my kids clothing also means that I can make smart choices in fabric type and use. One way I do this is by planning out “what” I want to sew in conjunction with the yardage of fabric I have. This is what I call ‘Fabric Tetris.’” Learn more about Jasmine’s game of fabric Tetris and her thoughts on this rib knit fabric on the blog now.
