Realized halfway through last night’s show that at the root of everything I’m sharing, writing and thinking about right now is liberation. We get to be free. In the ways we can be right now, today. We don’t have to wait. Make your stuff. Write, dance, sing, play, laugh yourself free. And if you feel so inclined…share the stuff you make. We can’t wait to see it, feel it, read it, hear it. Your art is for you first though. Always for you first. For us first.

@sexfirmationgoddess was a phenomenal host. They thoughtfully shared their poetry and beautiful voice with us as well as asked me thoughtful questions about the book. Things I hadn’t considered. So grateful to have a friend and a sister in them. I love you Tam.

More reflections and thank yous to come. Today has been for rest and restoration but I couldn’t wait another second to share some of the beautiful images from the first stop on the Cotton Candy Skies: A Wandering Residency Tour.

Grateful to be able to live this life of mine. Committed to continuing to make it more and more mine every day. 🩵☁️🙏🏽

#photodump Over last three weeks, I’ve traveled from my hometown to Omaha and Columbia, SC with Birmingham, AL and Atlanta inbetween. I was nominated for Artist of the Year in the Northeast Louisiana region but didn’t win. Felt good to be celebrated and for member of our group, BCCNL, to win was a win. Stopped in Birmingham, @bhammuseum to checkout their collection, then on to Atlanta to check out Amy Sherald at the High Museum. Very much needed. Dope show. Last, I arrived at 701 CCA on July 1st for a month long residency. In one week, I’ve been all over Columbia, SC and experienced a variety of different things. The city has a very interesting story. Looking forward to learning more. If you’re in the area, stop by. My studio hours are Tuesday- Thursday, 1-5pm or by appointment. #sodacitysc #cheers

On Saturday Night, I’ve photographed the first ‘Poetic Sessions’ event. Hosted by @frank_expression & @wordskire / @kire_wif_words. This even gives CLT Poets an open/mic platform and to present their talents towards the community. Relaxing, great night & show.

Who is helping shape the future of LGBTQ+ Charlotte?

Meet eight young leaders, artists, educators, advocates and creators who are making an impact across the Queen City. From expanding access to transgender healthcare and HIV resources to building community through storytelling, art, drag, social media and public health, these changemakers represent the next generation of LGBTQ+ leadership in Charlotte.

Their work looks different, but they share a common goal: creating a stronger, more connected and more inclusive community for the people coming next.
