We created the bursting imagery for Mere Mortal album using thermal sublimation: releasing dry ice into a heated medium to create energetic, radiating threads of motion.

A mist of unpredictable trajectories and blasting energy; a physical reaction that represents raw, emergent chaos.

A release of extreme heat.

Creative Concept, Artwork and Design by us and @tot.studio . Mere Mortals is an album by @floatingpoints with the @SFBalletOrch, featuring the original score of the ballet created by Aszure Barton for the @sfballet .

A gesture trapped in flames.

Continuing our visual direction with T.O.T for Mere Mortals by Floating Points, the artwork reimagines the album as Pandora’s box, born from the chaotic fire stolen from the gods, with Hope trapped at its core. At its center lies the silhouette of hands reaching out. Hands belonging to ballet dancers, shaped like bird wings, waiting to be freed from the burning world.

The moment you slide it off, you physically set Hope free.

An album is usually something you play. This one is something you set free.

We recently led the creative direction for the album ‘Mere Mortals’ by @FloatingPoints, composed for and performed by the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra @sfballetorch .

Together with TOT STUDIO @tot.studio, we developed the visual identity, artwork, and visual assets. The concept was embedded in the album’s core theme, framing the physical release as Pandora’s box, akin to the ballet that inspired it. With a protagonist trapped in a burning world, the design was built around the idea of setting her free.

The entire packaging and visual system follow this narrative, turning the unboxing act into a symbolic gesture.

You haven't gotten the full picture of Mere Mortals until you see what's happening inside the pit during the show. We're pulling back the curtain to see the direct relationship between the choreography and the musicians. Here we have musicians Britton Day and Susan Kang playing the Therevox to bring Madeline Woo's Pandora to life.

I’ve made a new album, and it will be released on 28th August via @dgclassics . It’s a symphony for 80 musicians reflecting on the myth of Pandora, and here’s the first single from it, a duet for harp and therevox. Over the past few years my friend @miriamadefris has been teaching me how to write for harp, and here she plays with me on Her Gift. Physical Pre-orders of the full album available now Via Bandcamp etc.
