What does it take for families to stay, belong, and thrive in San Francisco? At the District 10 Sunnydale Family Summit, families and community members talked about what they value, the challenges they face, and what they hope for the future. A few of the themes we heard: - Community matters. Participants spoke about strong neighbors, cultural diversity, family roots, and community organizations that help families feel connected. - Families want San Francisco to remain a place where they and longtime communities can afford to stay. - Transportation, construction, and neighborhood changes can make it harder to reach schools, grocery stores, healthcare, and other resources. - Families want better access to healthy, affordable food close to home. - Children and young people need support at every stage, including early education, afterschool programs, mental health services, college and career guidance, internships, and jobs. - Participants want better information about available resources and clearer follow-through on how community input is used.
