#Throwback to the month of May 🌼✨ where Heartware Network collaborated with National University of Singapore (NUS)’s Community Service Club in their Project SparkSeed III! 😊

Heartware Network attended the sector-based workshops, online consultation session and final pitching day to hear about the various project ideas presented by the various project groups and sponsored 70 sets of Heartware tote bags, pens and masks, and refreshments for the participants.

On the 15th and the 23rd of May, 9 youth volunteers from NUS Sparkseed Project III (@nuscsc.sparkseed) engaged clients with special needs from Down Syndrome Association (Singapore) (@downsyndromesingapore) and Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) (@sgminds) in craft activities and conversations on the topic of gratitude 🎨🗣️

Let's cherish those beautiful moments that remind us of the power of compassion and the joy found in shared stories 💞

🌟 Igniting Leadership & Kindness 🌟

🎓 #HeartwareSG 3-day HW-CCE Leadership Training, in partnership with Singapore Management University (SMU), was an incredible journey!

🗣️ Day 1 kicked off with inspiring talks from our partners. We had Shi Yun from CampusImpact, Sufri from Tasek Jurong Ltd, and Jason from New Life Community Services sharing their wisdom, igniting our passion for service and leadership.

🤝 Connecting with the enthusiastic SMU Freshmen from Kidleidoscope, a student initiative for children, was an amazing experience. Their energy and dedication truly shone.

🌱 Day 2 continued the inspiration with guest speakers Lay Kuan from Blossom Seeds, Rachel from Filos Community Services, and Michael and Swee Khai from Singapore Red Cross Society. Their stories of service left a lasting impact.

🤗 Engaging with the compassionate SMU Freshmen from Inspirar on Day 2 was an honor. This initiative creates a supportive environment for those in need, and their dedication moved us.

🎙️ Day 3 featured diverse speakers including Charmaine and Christopher from Anglican Care Centre, Julia from MINDS, Joe from Metta Welfare Association, and Rossana from Extraordinary People. Their insights on inclusivity and care were powerful.

🤩 Our interaction with the dedicated SMU Freshmen from starringSMU on Day 3 was unforgettable. Their commitment to supporting individuals with special needs touched our hearts deeply.

🏢 Heartfelt thanks to Tiong Bahru CC & Singapore Pools (Main Branch) for providing the venue. Your support made this journey possible.

🙌 Let's keep the flames of leadership, compassion, and community engagement burning bright! 💫

The National Day celebrations at Zone 8 RN over the weekend was so special with its emphasis on inclusivity! CK and team made it a point to invite our precious children from YMCA and The Very Special Choir from MINDS to perform for us. Our children put in so much effort and brought everyone to their feet.

Singapore belongs to all of us, including those with special needs. Together, we're stronger! 🌈🇸🇬

Catch 𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗕𝗥𝗢𝗦 at the MFF Community Screenings🎬

INSEPARABLE BROS has received a lot of attention, especially because of its trio of stars.
⭐Actor SHIN Ha-kyun is a 20-year veteran of the film industry, who played over 40 characters in his career and is often heralded as ‘god of acting’.
⭐LEE Kwang-soo, a fan-favourite on the long-running variety show, RUNNING MAN🏃, is well-known for immersing into his characters and elevating any project he’s involved in.
⭐Esom was long appointed as the ‘it’ girl and she proved herself with a string of TV series and films that showcased her talent.

📝The filmmakers worked on the script for 3 long years to ensure an accurate depiction of the true story. They went to night schools, welfare centers, assisted living facilities and other associations for the disabled for advice, and involved them heavily for feedback during the editing process.

Swipe for a few words from the cast👉

I recently received this wonderful thank you card from our children of The Very Special Choir from MINDS. They truly made my day and were an inspiration to all who saw their performances over the National Day festivities in Bukit Batok this month.

Over the years, thanks to the efforts of our community leaders, partners and fellow BB residents, there is growing awareness of conditions such as autism, Down’s Syndrome, ADHD and so on. This is key to ensuring that we remain an inclusive community where everyone is respected and supported. My sincere thanks to The Very Special Choir of MINDS for the beautiful Thank You card and kind gesture!

Woodlands Integrated Transport Hub is now purposefully dressed in colourful fruits to improve the commuting experience for persons with cognitive disabilities, including dementia!

SMRT worked alongside Agency for Integrated Care, APSN, Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS), and Dementia Singapore in this Wayfinding Project to explore ways to enhance the hub's inclusivity to ease the anxiety of these commuters who are travelling independently.

The use of fruits as visual cues was a strategic decision as it is a theme most are familiar with. The fruits that are depicted on the walls and floors within the interchange aim to guide commuters to bus berths independently.

Click on the link in our IGS to learn more about the latest addition to the Wayfinding Project.

Throw back to NYC Leaders Course! 🤝🔍

636 IHL students participated in the inaugural @nycsg Leaders Course in June. They underwent an incredible experience that included the enriching ‘Service Journey’ segment organised by Youth Corps Singapore. 🚀🌏

During the service journeys, Youth Corps Singapore’s Associate Facilitators facilitated the NYC Leaders as they engaged with local communities such as @lionsbefrienders , @skillseed, @justkeepthinkingsg Moral Home for the Aged Sick, @savhofficial, @sgminds, @enablingvillage and experienced firsthand about their needs and challenges.

If you like what you experienced during the NYC Leaders Course, here’s your chance to make a difference at Youth Corps Leaders Programme. You get to do more than doing good and be mentored by our community partners who work with seniors, special needs youths, youths-at-risk and children from disadvantaged families.

Sign up closes on 15 August 2023.
