Now that my content is consistently going viral, especially my dancing content (which is actually far few and btwn from what I typically post)…here’s a few things the men in my comments and DM’s have made clear:

1. Whenever I post videos of me and my girls dancing, we must be selling 🐱

2. Although my music has a positive and empowering message, I’m not allowed to dance along to my own music or show any joy whatsoever or else I’m labeled unlovable and unworthy of respect.

3. Regardless if I’m wearing sweat pants, swim suit, ball room gown or anything for that matter, soon as I start dancing , I’m automatically disqualified as an intelligent woman and will never get a ring from any man.

4. Only white women get to twerk online and be considered beautiful and fun and holy and marriage material.

5. Anything Black women do that make us happy, feel good, heal through our trauma and release negative emotions from our bodies is unacceptable and we are not worthy of respect or celebration…regardless of what we are celebrating.

Here’s what I say to all that:

God bless yall. 🌹
Black women are the original.
Black women are worthy of respect, love, healing, honor, and reverence.

Whether we are TWERKING, TAP DANCING, BELLY DANCING, DOING THE SALSA, BOUNCING TITTIES, DANCING TO BOUNCE MUSIC, DOING THE ROBOT OR THE MACARENA…if YOU feel triggered by it, that’s a YOU problem. You don’t get to disrespect women.
You were literally born because YO MAMA tapped into her sensual sexual energy.

I know I shouldn’t be paying yall no mind on this internet but I had time today and also, ima hit the studio and MAKE ANOTHER HIT SONG and yall will continue to download and run my pockets up so.

I thought this recent revelation from @tatyanaali was very fitting… CAUSE WOMEN DANCING, SHAKING ASS AND HEALING THROUGH TRAUMA …HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MALE GAZE OR MEN AND THEIR ANTIQUATED NARCISSISTIC BELIEFS ABOUT WOMEN… it’s about us moving and transmuting energy for our own mental heath and wellness. And much of the trauma stored in our bodies now has everything to do with this backwards ass patriarchy and nonstop policing of women’s bodies

Hi, I’m @markbergernola, and I’m the Executive Director of @nolayogafest. 🧘🏽‍♂️💚

I’m finally coming up for air after a truly magical weekend, and my heart is overflowing with gratitude.

To our incredible sponsors, Board of Directors, volunteers, presenters, production team, @hotelpeterandpaul staff, @nolavibeyoga , yoga community, and all of our partnering studios THANK YOU. 🙏🏽

What you experienced this weekend was truly a team effort. And in many ways, that’s the practice of yoga itself: remembering that we are not separate. That when we come together in service, connection, movement, breath, music, and love, something much bigger than any one of us can happen..and we raised money for a beautiful charity called @say.yeah.yoga

This may have been one of the toughest things I’ve ever helped pull off with such a small team and limited resources. But somehow, through the chaos, the challenges, the sweat, the hugs, the laughter, tears, and a whole lot of faith… the yoga kept showing up.

And that’s what keeps me inspired.

I truly believe that this practice has the power to heal our communities, our world, and most importantly ourselves. The festival is just one little expression of that larger Sadhana. 💚

We’re already dreaming about next year. We will have big news SOON👀✨

Stay connected, tell us what you loved, tell us where we can grow, and help us make this festival better, more accessible, and more connected every year.

New Orleans, you showed up.
You reminded us what sangha can look like.
And I’m so damn grateful to be a part of it.

Much love, family. 🙏🏽
See you on the mat. 💚

And a HUGE thank you to @galiduart for capturing so many beautiful moments from the weekend. 📸✨
