Congratulations to @edmfilmfest on wrapping its 40th festival this weekend, ten days of stories from Edmonton, across Alberta, and around the world. 🎬

Edmonton storytellers opened and closed the lineup. @lightning.cody’s @smudgetheblades, the Edmonton-shot hockey comedy that won @tiff_net’s Best Canadian Discovery Award, opened the festival. Funny Money: The Dane Cook Story from Edmonton’s @scoreg, produced by Adam Scorgie and @shanefen and directed by Brett Harvey, closed it with its Canadian premiere.

Thank you to every filmmaker, cast and crew member who shared their work this year, and to EIFF for partnering with us on the Creative Screen Business Summit.

Filmmaker Brett Harvey directed the film. The writers, listed alphabetically, are Pollyanna Hardwicke-Brown and Brett Harvey.

The cast includes Dane Cook as himself; Al Del Bene; Kelsi Cook; Richard Pollmann as himself; Richard Grundy as himself; Erika Montsesi; Courtney Cook; Luke Ernenwein as himself; Joseph Zwicker as himself; Thomas Kingsley as himself; Mark Clifford as himself; Guy Venuti as himself; Richard Feldstein as himself; Kelly Amann; and Erika McCauley as a self-interviewee.

Rocky Mudaliar and Adam Scorgie served as producers. Executive producers were Jade Ansell, Jhod Cardinal, Shane Fennessey, Rod Gregory, John Gumboc, Pollyanna Hardwicke-Brown, Nitish Kannan, Jimmy Lynn, Gordon K Sattro, Christopher Tavlarides, and Jim Wright. Shane Fennessey also served as co-producer.

Alec Harrison composed the music. Cinematographers were Brett Harvey and Shae Paterson. Stephen Green edited the film, with Pollyanna Hardwicke-Brown and Brett Harvey also credited as editors.

A big thank you to the @edfilmfest for having team Funny Money: The Dane Cook Story at your event. It was a big hit — the crowd was laughing or cheering and in a couple of cases booing (but booing is allowed when it’s for the right reasons!). @scoreg killed it @shanefen killed it @brettharveyofficial for sure killed it and will be in my heart for life because it’s emotionally impossible to imagine somebody handling a story like mine in a way that I truly feel seen, and it shared in a way I could only hope it would be. All that’s to say, it’s really hard to make a documentary like this and to make it soar, and he did in this team absolutely did. @rox_mudd really started it all by connecting all of us together and allowing us to believe we were the right squad to take this on, so thank you, Rocky! This is only the phase 1 start! Watch us go go go.

Still coming down from the world premiere of FUNNY MONEY: THE DANE COOK STORY. What an incredible night at the historic @am_cinematheque. 🎬🔥

My favourite unexpected blessings of premieres is the way they bring people together. Almost like a wedding or a birthday, you look around the room and see people from so many different chapters of your life and career all under one roof.

Old high school friends from Kelowna. OG Creative Hustlers. Friends and collaborators from across the industry. Our incredible clearance lawyers at @dcpfirm. And so many people who have supported us along the way.

THANK YOU to everyone who came out and helped make this world premiere a night we’ll never forget. 🙏

I always love watching an audience experience one of our films for the first time, but the reaction to FUNNY MONEY was different. The laughter. The cheers. The energy in that theatre was more visceral than anything we’ve experienced with one of our films before.

I genuinely cannot wait for the rest of the world to see this one.
