Landing an idea for your Final Major Project is hard! Is it unique enough, good enough, do I even like it, do my tutors actually like it, will it help me find a job, will I be able to do it justice…?! 🫠

Today we helped Year 3 students step well out of their comfort zone in order to make links between what they care about in life and this research project. In a nutshell it went like this: 🥹✍🏻🤯🕺🏻

We loved seeing them tell a friend what they’re good at, write a postcard from their future selves, rapidly ‘ideate & iterate’…and strike a super hero pose. Thank you so much to Tara at Think/Do Studio for throwing us in the deep end - it’s sure to have got the creative juices going! 💡

We often show off the amazing content in our students’ work but there are times when we need to just shout out about the way it looks 🔥

Hello cover pages, title pages, curated fashion images, graphic fonts, bespoke infographics, drool-worthy colour palettes and (dare I say it) referencing within our Year 2 work placement unit submissions 👋🏻

We teach our students how to use the Adobe suite, notably inDesign, to create their work - just look at what they can do by the end of Year 2 👀

This is @sharai_white owning the breakout space at Trend forecasting agency BDA London. She reached out to them a year or so after they had delivered a killer session as part of our Trend Forecasting unit in Year 1. Her mentor knew straight away from interviewing her on zoom that she would be a great fit and he was not wrong 💫

Her first task was to pull together a Retail report (scary!) and since then she has worked on reports across every trend category. This has meant wearing a number of different hats in order to gather anything from macro homeware or beauty insights to commercial fast fashion trends 🤗

It is testament to Sharai’s work ethic and capability that she hit the ground running and asked great questions from day 1 - although, true to nature, she is thankful for every opportunity and the trust the team have in her. And, sorry but no, she won’t be staying on past the summer, this girl has a degree to finish! 💪🏼

Fave things about her placement? Working on trend books and getting insight into new & upcoming brands and products. The office environment is also incredible - everyone looks out for each other and they always have a good laugh 🫶🏼
