And lastly and maybe most importantly, thank you to husband for legitimately holding down the fort at home and balancing the delicate the house of cards that is our insane schedule for the entire week so I could be galavanting downtown with friends and authors with no worries other than where my next show is was (I only messed this up once) when I would be getting my next meal (I didn’t miss a single one).

Until next year @wordfest 🩵🫶

WORDFEST IMAGINAIRIUM: DAY 6

The grand finale 😭😭

My last day of the Imaginarium started at What A Pair, with Kawai Strong Washburn and Michael Christie. Both men were so warm and knowledgeable, and I loved the conversation about climate fiction (or Cli-fi - IYKYK). Greenwood is one of my favourite books, so I was so delighted to meet Michael.

After that I made my way over to the Bella Concert Hall for the grand finale featuring Bonnie Garmus. I was fortunate enough to be invited to the pre-show reception thrown by Simon & Schuster Canada. There were snacks and a signature drink, The Pecking Order, which was so fun.

Bonnie her self was unbelievable. Susin Nielsen hosted, and the conversation was incredibly timely and deeply funny. Bonnie’s new book is very anti-AI, which is the same theme as this year’s Imaginairium, so it truly was the perfect conversation to end the festival with.

As always, thank you to the @wordfest team for including me in so many amazing events. I love the Imaginairium and truly believe that events like this are so important to our future, now more than ever…

If you could see ONE author in person, who would you want to see? My North Star is TJR… a close second is Lisa Jewell.

WORDFEST IMAGINAIRIUM: DAY 5

Saturday is always one of the most fabulous days at the Imaginairium!

I started my day with the Morning Yap, which is one of my favourite formats; 5 women casually discussing their work in an intimate conversation.

After that, some of the BIRs and some of my bookclub friends had lunch at Central Taps before hitting out 1 PM shows.

For me, that was Patrick DeWitt, who was exactly how he is on the page, which is always satisfying for a reader. He knows exactly who he is, which I love.

My final show of the evening was The Way We Wear, which is another favourite of mine. I always love hearing the authors, take on the subject.

After the way we wear, we were so fortunate to get invited to karaoke After Dark with some of the other authors and Word fest folks… Unfortunately, there was no phones allowed!

If you had to choose between singing karaoke or reading a sex scene infront of a group of people, which would you choose? Asking for a friend, of course…

I will see you all tomorrow for the sixth and final day of Wordfest!

WORDFEST IMAGINAIRIUM: DAY 4

Day 4 was a dream ☁️ Spend Day 4 with me!

My first event of the day was A Toast To The Classics Lunch Experience which is a new format. Nine authors chose a book and they were tasked with pitching us on by it is a “literary classic” we need to read.

After the conversation, everyone went down into the lobby, and @wordfest was kind enough to supply everyone with the most delicious lunch.

I had a small break in my schedule, so I drove to the other side of the city and caught my daughter’s basketball game before meeting Raven for dinner at Ten Foot Henry!

After dinner we went to a Literary Death Match - where authors square off, reading their work, and one person is declared the winner. It is such an and unique experience.

The final event of the night was the annual Hotel Arts Pool Party, where I got to mingle with authors, literary lovers and the other BIRs! It was such an amazing day!
