SFPL book sale is set up alongside Filipino food trucks today as part of the best farmer-market featuring every kind of person except cops, surveillance spiders notwithstanding. An amazing day out there and proof that all we love happens without and in spite of fascism! Resistance and some assembly required to be sure, but it feels happily pissed off and connected to others, unstabbed backs, boundaries without paranoia or dispiriting gossip, with solidarity, with books, and $2 bags of fresh fruit and veg for all. Plus noise! That part happens tomorrow 8/6 at the The Peacock Lounge starting 8pm, 552 Haight, in SF where it is always all-ages, featuring the firebrand (ff): for real. Don't stay home, get out! (ff): This spraypaintable ligature (ff): denotes <Fuck Fascists> followed by a colon to get that shit out! A searing new collaboration between Sharkiface and Ava Koohbor, who met at Mills College in the circuitous course of developing nonlinear pragmatism through electronics, noise, and spoken word, enact resistance, reject fascism and level aim to demolish patriarchy. (ff): make sound as protest, performance as refusal, and noise as a space for collective action. And in this particular instance, it's all going down at the Peacock Lounge! https://avakoohborarts.com/ Ava and Angie stand together on a terrace with skyscrapers behind them.

Leaking Brian Pedersen on bari sax, Fred Lonberg-Holm on cello, and Jay Korber on the rusty gates of hell. Whether it'll be light, oil, or cerebral spinal fluid that seeps before spurting full force we can't know in advance. (ff): This spraypaintable ligature (ff): denotes <Fu*kFascists> followed by a colon to get that shit out! A searing new collaboration between Sharkiface and Ava Koohbor. Evidence Trio Mbira, flute and alto maestera Kersti Abrams unites with bassist Eli Pontecorvo and thereminist Andrew Joron to establish the avant-space improv Evidence Trio. 5k candle For something so blindingly brilliant, Chris Farstad's gorgeous command of video and his mastery of resonant acoustic synthesis go conspicuosly unheralded. But come to think of it, the same could be said of your own own wildest resonant dreams. Why not bring along your sleeping mind this time? Lead it into the Peacock Lounge and there let it bite you quick and soft in the not quite dark, teeth all aflame! Leaking, (ff):, Evidence Trio, 5k candle August 6 8pm-11pm Peacock Lounge, 552 Haight, SF All-ages, $5-$15 No One Turned Away for Lack of Funds

2NITE 7/26 7:15 CHRIS EVERINGHAM sfsound.info FF (AVA KOOHBOR + SHARKIFACE) KIMIA KOOCHAKZADEH-YAZDI CHRIS EVERINGHAM Santa Cruz based composer, CHRIS EVERINGHAM presents Searching, a work that uses a just intonation sound space synthesized in MAX/MSP. The performer “searches” for JI harmonies within the sound space. Throughout Searching, the fundamental pitch of the harmonies slowly descends, creating new resonances with each change. In this piece Everingham seeks to combine his interests in just intonation with influences from the music of Morton Feldman, the drone-metal band Sunn O))), and controlled improvisation. Searching is an evolving piece of music that changes with each new performance. FF is the collaboration of SHARKIFACE and AVA KOOHBOR, who met at Mills College. They use electronics, noise, and spoken word to enact resistance and reject fascism and patriarchy. They make sound as protest, performance as refusal, and noise as a space for collective action. SHARKIFACE, aka Angela Edwards, is an Oakland-based performer blending synths, custom instruments, and voice to craft visceral, noise-influenced electronic works. San Francisco based poet, visual and sound artist AVA KOOHBOR works with sound as a tactile material. Her performances are sensory fields where vibration becomes texture, risk, breath, and presence in space. Iranian composer and performer KIMIA KOOCHAKZADEH-YAZDI presents In Between Spaces, a live electronic set that moves through memories, spaces, and feelings. The piece lives in the coexistence of extremes and between shifting thresholds. Its sound world is built from synthesized and sampled Iranian instruments, field recordings, processed material from previous works, and transformed vocal sounds. It comes from sorrow, anger, and grief, but also from hope, love, and resilience. Sonically and narratively, the piece moves between edge and immersion, water and space, noise and delicacy, flow and rigidity.

Visuals for @sharkiface at the @idyllwildexperimentalmusicfest 2 weeks ago. I’m always fascinated with how much I can do with a very simple set up for a set this long. The last one is a trial at home made with the audio from the show for fun. This was also the second show in the same week with her. Same setup, different progression. Thanks to @doomdeath for booking me! @touchdesigner #resolume #particleabstractions
