We’re all set up and ready for @dartmouthfoodfestival tomorrow! 🌿 Join us for a series of one-hour, hands-on workshops exploring seasonal ingredients, fermentation and sustainable cookery: 🍃 Foraged summer rolls with nuoc cham 🧀 Savoury cream teas with cultured cream cheese and quick apple chutney 🥬 Seasonal apple and beetroot sauerkraut 🫓 Homemade paratha with coconut sambal We’re particularly excited to be using the fabulous new Dartmoor 75 cheese from @sharphamcheese in our savoury scones. Created to celebrate 75 years of Dartmoor National Park, it’s a fantastic local ingredient. If you’re not joining us for a workshop, make sure you visit the Sharpham Cheese stand and give it a try! 👨‍🍳 Catch Colin on the main chef stage on Sunday, 11am–12pm, for a live cookery demonstration. You’ll also find us in the market square with our Heath & Hedge naturally infused spirits, alongside information about our cookery courses, team-building experiences, corporate events and seasonal fine-dining evenings. Good excuse to pop into the fab @jennykooskitchen for a spot of lunch too! And if you come and see us on the stand, we’ll have a special food festival discount on bookings! Come and say hello, discover something new, and celebrate great food, local ingredients and a little wild inspiration. 🌱 #DartmouthFoodFestival #GroundUpCookerySchool #HeathAndHedge #SharphamCheese #SeasonalCooking

Alright folks, it’s time to properly introduce you to our new pizzas here for the chilly months. 🌶️ First up, Brisket Case, already taking us by storm (pardon the pun). Smoky BBQ base, roasted garlic mushrooms, Somerset Ogleshield cheese, slow-roasted pulled beef and Calabrian chilli. Not to be missed. 🍯 Next, The Pony, bringing creamy, smoky and sweet heat together in one mighty fine pizza. We’re talking a mascarpone base, 9-month matured Black Down Ham from @somcharcuterie roasted garlic mushrooms, parmesan, red onion, rocket and a drizzle of hot honey. 🧀 And lastly, the Cornwall x Devon Standoff… Cheese First! No picking sides here, just good old West Country cheese. Cornish Yarg from Lynher Dairy, Devon Blue from @sharphamcheese pickled red onion, rocket and fresh parsley. Get down and try!

Chuffed to be featured in this month’s Speciality Food magazine, where I was asked to pick six cheeses I love. Narrowing it down was harder than it sounds, but here’s the line-up: Stone Tree Dairy raw milk goat curd, the cheese that started my love for all things goat Beenleigh Blue from Ticklemore Dairy in Totnes, smooth and creamy with a gentle sharpness that never overpowers Stithians from Lynher Dairy, buttery, rich and savoury with a lovely crumbly texture, and fast becoming my go-to Sharpham Cremet, a triple cream that ripens into something close to spreadable clotted cream (I’m mildly addicted) Rutland Red from Clawson Farms, with a beautiful golden orange colour and sweet caramel notes Alp Blossom from Hofkäserei Kraus, coated in flowers and nutty, sweet and beautifully aromatic You’ll find every one of them here in the shop, minus Alp Blossom which will be arriving in time to take pride of place on your Christmas cheeseboard 🧀 Pop into Butchers Row in Barnstaple and give them a try!

Today is National Apple Day, so we celebrated British apples, cider heritage and barbecue. @sandfordorchards hosted our Apple Day celebration, bringing together some of the UK’s leading apple experts, cider makers, press and food lovers for an afternoon dedicated to one of our most important native fruits. From a fascinating tour of the orchards and historic cider works with founder Barny Butterfield, to cider tastings and conversations exploring the genetics, diversity and preservation of British apple varieties. Chef James Peck fired up the Kamado Joes to prepare an outstanding feast of slow roasted miso cider glazed pork belly and glazed aubergines with an Asian inspired salad and miso smothered baby potatoes. Perfect with the pick your own cider bar. We finished with a selection of Sharpham Cheeses and Snowdonia Cheese cheddar, Russell & Atwell’s toffee apple fresh chocolates and Roly’s Toffee Apple fudge.

Exeter and the South West is home to some of the very best food and drink producers in the country, so it was fantastic to see them showcased in Parliament today at the Taste of Devon event. A fantastic celebration of local businesses, quality produce, and everything that makes our county so special 🍎🧀🥂

Taking Devon’s food and drink to the heart of Westminster! Today, Food Drink Devon is heading to the Houses of Parliament to showcase the outstanding food and drink produced across our county and to champion the independent businesses behind it. Seven members will be joining us in person, with a further 14 represented through samples on our Platinum Award Winners table, giving MPs, parliamentary staff and press a taste of the very best of Devon. The afternoon will also bring members, Food Drink Devon Directors and MPs together for a round table event to discuss key issues affecting our sector, from food security and economic growth to skills, infrastructure and business competitiveness. We’re hugely grateful to South Devon MP @carolinevoadenmp for helping to organise the visit and giving us the opportunity to raise Devon’s profile on the national stage. We’re proud of our county and its producers, and we’re looking forward to sharing a taste of Devon with Westminster - while making sure our businesses’ voices are heard. #FoodDrinkDevon #DevonFoodAndDrink #SupportLocal

We had a #silosupper last night for some local-ish hospitality royalty who generously won it at last year’s @fooddrinkdevon charity auction… Menu involved Lyme bay bass, @sharphamcheese, @meatmattersltd beef, @curtispittsdeerservices venison and an amazing wine flight by @sips_with_supper using @selectedgrapes booze…. Custard tart: all my own work (@marcuswareing recipe that I’ve been using for 20 years obviously) I love watching hospitality staff receiving hospitality… (and I love over hearing the gossip!) Drop me an email luke@highgrangedevon.com if a Silo Dinner would work for your Christmas party…
