A rather lovely month prepping for what is about to be a rather crazy few months…

@proloco.mcr is a restaurant built around Rich’s longstanding relationships with some of the country’s best producers. So, in the build-up to launch, we worked with @acre.film to capture the stories behind a few of them. Great stories and great pizza coming in August!

A WEEK LATER.....

So it's taken me a week to get my head around what happened last Monday.

It was genuinely the best day of my professional life and it truly made me realise how lucky I am to have the right people around.

A collection of the best chefs came together to do a special meal dedicated to me (still sound a mental saying that) and to raise money for The Christie @christiecharity who have helped me and so many others. This amazing group of chefs, sommeliers and front of house superstars gave their time and expertise to support me and this amazing charity. Some of the best suppliers were so generous as well which is unreal.

Despite the overwhelm I felt it was the most special evening with unreal food, paired with exceptional drinks and wonderful service. I will be forever grateful for everyone involved and all the people who came and gave their money for such an amazing cause.

It was a true example of how special the hospitality industry is especially in the North West and also that no matter what the industry is going through we support and care for each other.

I will never forget that night and what those wonderful people did for me.

I will never receive an honour more prestigious than @shaunymw coming out of chip butty retirement to surprise me with my own special one during my birthday meal at @winsome_mcr (double stacked with the most demonically brilliant chips known to man, slathered in brown butter hollandaise. Absurd in the best way possible). Full restaurant serenading me with Happy Birthday, then here comes the bonus birthday pie (venison suet, fit to bursting like a luxury hotel pillow. Even on a 30 degree day I wanted another two of these to walk around town with afterwards. One in each hand) and then onto The Pev with a group of the most beautiful people in the world to drink a rake of pints in the sun while the entire city prepares for a World Cup quarter-final. Finally onto @northwestwardho for more pints and an impassioned discussion about how Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou-Wood definitely had a ravenous affair filming White Lotus, while ‘Miss You’ by the Stones hit the pub speakers. Not getting any better than that, is it? Turning 38 is sound ❤️❤️

Monday night something truly special happened.

A group of some of the north’s best chefs got together for one reason, to celebrate our brother jonny boy aka @thecraftycheeseman_

Jonathan is a truly incredible man, his passion is infectious and he lights up the room as soon as he walks in. ( the fact he’s a fellow southerner helps too )

I can’t thank this man enough, he’s always been at the end of the phone personally or professionally for advise or a chat.

Monday was amazing, we all cooked our hearts out and the room was full of laughter, flowing wine and great food.

Massive thank you to @josephotway and @highergroundmcr for hosting the event. It’s a beautiful restaurant and stunning kitchen to cook in.

Big up @georgietamara_ for organising the whole thing.

I wanna say thank you to all the chefs and front of house that worked the event, the night wouldn’t have happened without all of you and I feel like I’ve made some amazing friends

When the call goes out, Manchester’s hospitality business will drop everything.

On Monday night, a line-up of the best chefs in the city assembled at @highergroundmcr to put in a shift to raise funds for the life-saving, pioneering @christiecharity.

It was all to celebrate the one and only @thecraftycheeseman_, aka Jonathan Pearcey, aka ‘Crafty’, beloved cheesemonger to some of the best restaurants in the country, who started out selling his wares from a shipping container - the ‘cheese can’ - on Pollard Yard in Ancoats.

Within a few years, he would be supplying Michelin-starred restaurants.

He received his cancer diagnosis in 2024, so the Christie did what it does best; supporting him and his family through a perilous, life-changing time.

Cancer affects us all, and every penny donated brings us a step closer to beating it.

turns out choosing your favourite cheese is harder than running some of manchester’s best kitchens…

we headed down to @highergroundmcr on monday for the @thecraftycheeseman_‘s charity dinner and put some of the city’s top chefs on the spot

thanks for letting us be part of the night, it’s was a special one for sure

an unbelievable group of chefs and hospitality professionals came together to raise money for @christiecharity while supporting jonathan through his ongoing cancer journey, it was a reminder of what makes manchester’s hospitality scene so special 💛
