Riots of Colours; Ft. The National Bird.

The theme of the National Wildlife Week 2026, says - “Connecting Habitats, Thriving Wildlife.”

The Indian Peafowls are one brightest example of wildlife is not only confined within isolated protected areas. They thrive in a remarkably diverse range of habitats—from deciduous forests, scrublands and woodland edges to agricultural landscapes, villages and urban institutional campuses. They demonstrate how wildlife adapts and persists across a mosaic of natural and human-dominated landscapes when the habitat is not essentially threatening their existence, allowing them the basic space.

Their presence across diverse Indian landscapes gives a powerful reminder that conserving wildlife means conserving the entire living landscape—forests, grasslands, wetlands, farms, villages and the ecological links between them. Protecting and connecting these habitats are essential for ensuring that India’s wildlife continues to thrive in a peaceful coexistence with the human population of the country.

An individual who was like present forever - from being overshadowed by other showstoppers to finally becoming that main character of the story whose name echoes from Jamni to Jamunbori, 97 to Pandarpouni-Chikhalbahi....

Deep in my head I could hear a voice saying - It is the last time I am seeing her.
Deep in my heart I am happy that her last visual for me will forever be the memory where she walked with the aura which defined her forever.

Some characters linger in our hearts because of a magical first impression. Some earn their places somewhere in the middle of the story...

Only a few can walk out of the narrative with the same aura they walked in with. Because they are not just a part of any story; they leave the story struggling to survive without them.

In Frame - Choti Tara, with a Sambar Fawn Kill at Chikhalbahi in June 2025. One final memory I fondly cherish ❤️
