Some Chicago Marathon moments:

1. Finally got to see @stevenonthemove race in person after years of working together. Couldn't ask for a more positive, motivated, and humble person to coach (@runcoachjames). We also got to celebrate his birthday with a few meals, beers, and shots of Malört!

2. Climbed atop the LaSalle Street Bridge for some great views of the best city

3. Long hair, keep it or cut?

4. Another long time coach/athlete meet up, lucky to catch a few miles with @m__krauel while she was in town for a conference! Repping some @ericandaishapod merch after a great live show on Friday

5. No such thing as a bad day when it's a PR (even if that includes some scraped up and bloodied knees courtesy of an early-race fall) @caitmanduley

6. The queen 👑 @shazrine is so fast I could barely keep up on two wheels

7. Post-race mayhem well into the afternoon

8. Marathon Sunday started with a sunrise bike ride into the city, had to be the least busy day on the trail all season 😅

I continue to be amazed at how incredible an athlete @shazrine is. I’m so proud of her and those who paced her to a second place finish at the Chicago Marathon. And of course always so proud of the LOML @haasruns for coaching them to success.

Marathon weekend in Chicago was electric. I've been lucky enough to travel the country to compete, coach, and spectate some of the biggest running events but nothing hits quite like your first world major in the city you now call home.

I had an absolutely incredible time trying to keep up with the pro fields, watching my college teammate @shazrine find herself on the podium in yet another major, finishing 2nd in her first time running Chicago, before doubling back on my bike to catch so many friends and strangers who conquered the city streets.

How fast was the Chicago Marathon? Brigid Kosgei ran 2:14:55 and that was only enough for third.

Hawi Feysa won in 2:13:33. Sharon Lokedi finished second in 2:14:07.

The first marathon in history with three women under two hours fifteen.

Feysa and Lokedi were still together with little more than a kilometre remaining. Feysa then pulled away to defend her title, finishing 34 seconds ahead and taking 84 seconds off her PB.

What a race. Women’s running has given us so much to talk about this year.

What impresses you more: an individual world record or a podium this strong?
