Not a circumstance you were handed. Not a product of your upbringing or what happened to you last week. A daily, conscious decision — made whether you realise it or not.

Most people are waiting. Waiting to feel better before they think better. Waiting for circumstances to change before their mindset does. But the shift comes first. The circumstances follow.

Fridays in the studio 🎬

Today I had the huge pleasure of joining the beautiful @megmcleanuk as a guest on her new podcast @shecanpod

We had a super candid conversation about two of my most devastating and defining moments and what it takes to build back after immense trauma and grief.

I talked about losing 17 stone. Rebuilding my life after cancer. How fitness became the foundation that my confidence, my career and everything I’ve built was constructed on top of.

I talked about what rockstar level confidence actually is — not a personality type, not something you’re born with — but a skill. A practice. A daily decision to show up for yourself even when everything inside you says you’re not ready.

And I talked about what happens when you finally decide you are.

Because I was that woman. The one who didn’t believe it yet. And I know exactly what it took to become the woman who does.

When you invest in yourself, genuinely, consistently and without apology, everything changes. Your standards rise. Your results follow. And the version of you that you always knew existed starts showing up every single day.

That is the work I get to do. And if something in you is stirring reading this — that quiet voice that says more is possible for me — that voice is right. ✨

In Episode 17, I sat down with one of my best pals, the brilliant @megmcleanuk.

Meg is the host of @shecanpod and spends her days helping women, particularly mums, chase their goals and create a life that works for them.

In this episode, Meg shares her journey from growing up in an entrepreneurial family to becoming a full-time entrepreneur herself. We talk about freedom, family, business, following your own path and why the traditional 9–5 was never quite the right fit for her.

What I love most about Meg is that she’s always been willing to do things differently. She’s built a business around her values and the life she wanted to create, rather than squeezing her life around her work.

This conversation is full of wisdom, honesty and plenty of laughs too (including the story about getting arrested 🤣).

Today’s meet the mama is the amazing Meg who is mum to Ava age 9 and Arran age 7. Rocky the Sprocker Spaniel age 10 😆
Meg is the host of my new favourite podcast ‘She can’ 🫶🏼

1. What does a typical day look like in your world?

I get up with the kids. Those morning snuggles are the highlight of my day. For years i’d force myself into the “get up earlier” narrative and then realised that one day, my kids won’t want to climb into my bed and tell me about their dreams. So for now I embrace those crazy mornings. School run, gym session, dog walk, work session, school pick up, clubs, kids bedtime and another work session begins!

2. What ‘mum job’ would you outsource instantly if you could?

Tidying. Cleaning I can handle but the constant picking up can be a lot!

3. How do you reset after a hard day?

I love a walk if I can get out, if I’m home alone then a wee episode of Suits and a cuppa does the trick.

4. What’s bringing you joy lately - big or small?

Fitness brings me joy. For years I saw it as a chore but now it feels weird to go a day without a workout. I also love noticing the little things- those after school hugs, the cherry blossom, no-jacket days. When you notice the little things, they become the big things.

5. What do you hope your children remember about you as a mum?

That I was there for them. I was there but I also showed them what was possible and went after my dreams. Too often the narrative is “this or that” but I believe as mums we can be present for our kids AND have a kick ass career, the problems come when we try to do it all at the same time.

Today I filmed with @megmcleanuk on her podcast @shecanpod and honestly it was such an honour to be invited on 🥺🤍

I feel really grateful to be alongside so many incredible women who have shared their stories, challenges and journeys so openly on the podcast before me. And there will be plenty more after too.

She Can is all about mums who want it all, motherhood, ambition, goals, dreams, purpose, and I find that so inspiring. As someone who lost a huge part of myself in grief and survival mode, seeing women still chase their goals whilst navigating motherhood is really motivating to me.

Thank you so much Meg for making me feel so comfortable and supported while talking about such difficult parts of my life. Being able to openly share my story, raise awareness around suicide loss, grief, mental health, neurodiversity and rebuilding life afterwards means so much to me.

I actually don’t know what’s got into me lately because I went from saying I never cry on a podcast to now crying on all the most recent ones 😂 but I think that probably shows healing and the stage of grief I’m at too.

For a long time I tried so hard to hold everything together and keep my emotions in, whereas now I’m learning there’s absolutely no shame in showing emotion. Tears are part of grief, part of healing, and part of being human ❤️

I hope for anyone who listens it helps people feel less alone in their own struggles and reminds them they don’t always have to hold it together either. 🤍

I deleted social media for a week. Here’s what happened:

- I immediately felt clarity. I felt like a weight had lifted off my shoulders. The pressure to perform was gone. The pressure to live my best life and document it as I go, disappeared. The pressure to like and comment and try not to miss anything, all dissipated. This was a pressure I was unaware of, until it was gone.

- I had a new level of capacity. Brain capacity for conversations, my children and my business. I was more able to be present in everything I was doing. I thought that because my feed is full of “good stuff”, it didn’t require much of my attention. I was wrong. Processing a funny, interesting, healthy feed takes just as much brain capacity as a negative feed. A whole new level awaits.

- I conducted my life for me, not for the gram. I went to the gym, with no selfies. I set up my son’s birthday, with no selfies. I made wholesome snacks, with no selfies. I went nature walks, with no selfies.

- I left my phone in the other room, and I survived. In fact, I thrived.

- I started to have ideas👏🏻 of 👏🏻 my 👏🏻 own 👏🏻. Not regurgitated ideas, not her idea with my spin on it, but my ideas from my creative brain. I have so much to give and without the space for the sparks to connect, my brain can’t do its job.

- I found myself with time. Time to think, time to create. I built a website in the space of a couple of hours. How many chunks of time have I mindlessly lost?🤔

- I realised how many connections I have through this app and how powerful it is for community, when used properly. I had an urge to get back on it, to share what I’ve learned and to genuinely help people. To inspire, coach, entertain and provide value beyond merely documenting my #bestlife
