I made this and I love it! For years I have wanted to try working with glass and a couple of weeks ago I finally got my chance. I attended a paperweight workshop at Bransfield Glass in Buckinghamshire and it was wonderful! I learnt so much and it was great working with a different material which is so different from clay.

There was a lot to learn in 3 hours and important to get it right with so much heat involved! I was thrilled to have Maud as my tutor - an experienced and talented glassmaker and fellow @sheenartists member.

Although I’m used to working with a kiln for my ceramics, this was on a different level heat wise! It was fascinating collecting the glass from one kiln, adding my chosen colours and then turning the glass (as in this image) to get the swirling colours in the finished article.

A week later my paperweight arrived in the post and I couldn’t be more happy with it. The colour combo was just as I had hoped and the flower shape and air bubble within it exceeded expectations. As you can probably tell, I would highly recommend one of these workshops if you would like to learn more about glass! Glass workshop at Bransfield Glass
