Starting a dance is starting a fire 🔥

Your spark is where it comes from.

If you strike too hard too soon, you break up the kindling.

It requires attention, tuning in to what/who you’re working with.

Sensing what the kindling needs, and which strands are likely to set everything/one else alight.

Once you’ve got your first flame, that flame needs to be tended to, protected, encouraged in its dance to meet the other strands/people.

The beginning of the fire is a vulnerable place, there needs to be a safe container for the blaze to emerge.

With the right support, the dancing flames meet, heat, and spark the others, until separate entities burn as one.

The fire/dance has emerged, you can feel it.

Your relationship to the fire then changes, you are in service, feeding it - you don’t control it, the fire burns itself.

All you can do is witness, support and be charged by its warmth.

The fire/dance then alchemises all of the material tension into thin air, spirit radiates outwards as light.

Feed it the right logs at the right time and it will keep you warm and alive all through the night.

As the dance subsides, you can see it in the glowing embers, a magical expression of gratitude for the shift that has been collectively created.

And within that, there is peace.

Love to my bro @nickhird1 for starting this blaze with me & @wildingwithharry for his wisdom on the furnace, also to @primalgathering & @sheepdrove for offering this space for me to create a dancing furnace.

A beautiful gathering last week spent with my end-of-life doula kin. 🤍
Gathering with my soul tribe, sharing wisdom, stories and plenty of laughter and holding space for a powerful death meditation that brought us all back to what really matters.

There’s something deeply grounding about being in a room with people who understand the sacredness of this work: the tenderness, the privilege, the humour, the hard conversations, and the profound humanity of accompanying people at the end of life.

Feeling grateful for the connections, the learning, the remembering, and the reminder that none of us do this work alone.

Professional hearts. Open minds. A little bit of irreverence, reverence And a whole lot of soul. ✨

Sacred service and grateful for all the lessons and all the connections weaving in and on to my path 🙏🏼

For a few days, hundreds of people step away from the usual rhythm of life and come together with a shared intention.

Primal Harvest Gathering, a land regeneration gathering where we learn to forage mushrooms, tend fire in ancestral ways, plant wildflower bulbs, learn bee keeping and how to build a business that is in service to life.

Everyone arrives with something of their own to bring, and somewhere along the way, all of those different people, stories and perspectives become part of the same gathering.

That’s what we love about Primal.

You never quite know what the weekend will hold, or who you’ll meet along the way. But you leave knowing you were part of something that only happened because everyone showed up and took part.

And after this week, the gates will be open.

This is your last week to secure your place at Primal. Come gather with us.

When work doesn't quite feel like work....
Last week we headed to @sheepdrove to provide a low waste refreshment station ( with a little help from our friends at @kickstandcoffee.faringdon ) to accompany the amazing Eating Well, Living Well - masterclass and feast run by @intuitivechefkate and @1joissa - what a day and what a venue - we hope to return really soon!

A love letter to the natural world, is coming to Primal Harvest Gathering.

🎬 SUPER NATURE

A film shot entirely on Super 8, this BFI documentary is stitched together from footage gathered by collaborators across the world. Human hands and animal movement edited into a single, breathing frame.

The secret strength of the film is how it includes the film-makers themselves, underscoring the continuum between nature, animals and people. Which is why it is only fitting that this is being screened at Primal Harvest Gathering, a land regeneration gathering that leaves both people and places better than how they are found.

Over three immersive days you’ll learn the old, land-based skills of mushroom foraging and medicine making, fire tending, beekeeping, and sow wildflower bulbs in the meadows, each one helping regenerate the soil of Sheepdrove Organic Farm as you go, together.

You’ll eat locally grown organic food and sit in workshops that support you to build businesses with life at the centre. Primal is a gathering that restores people, forests & ecosystems, and we are delighted to welcome Super Nature to the experience.

If you’ve been looking for somewhere to give something back, and rekindle your own sense of hope and deepen your relationship for the natural world, than you’ll feel right at home here.

At the top of the orange tower at Sheepdrove Organic Farm is a circular room called The Rook's Nest, filled with comfy beanbag seats.

Here I create a psychologically-safe reflective space for doctors to share the social and emotional impact of their work on their personal and professional lives.

A space where doctors can share what it means to be human in the work they do.

Echoing the Dakota Sioux quote carved in stone in the herb garden, it is a circle where these brave healthcare workers can listen.

Listen to true, personal stories.

It was storytelling circles like these in the exact same room that featured in a BBC Radio 4 File on 4 Investigates 'Medical Emergency' on the prevention of doctor suicide.

Storytelling circles as a reflective space for healthcare workers to decompress are just one of many strategies.

Today (Thursday September 17th) on the UK's 3rd National Suicide Memorial Day for Health and Care Workers, I was back here facilitating storytelling circles, but without the recording microphones.

How will you create lasting memories of those we have lost to suicide?

How will you build hope in bolstering the social and mental health of your workforce?

A place becomes a home when people gather there with intention.

For a few days this October 2-4th, Sheepdrove organic farm will act as our home.

We will eat organic locally sourced food.
Plant wildflower bulbs
Foraging for mushrooms
Learn to tend fire together

Listen to epic music.

The venue is not the backdrop to Primal. It is the gathering, and what we coalesce to hold us in community.

This is where we’ll make memories together, share stories, gather around the fire and celebrate eight years of Primal.

There’s more than one way to come to Primal.

We’ve created different ticket options so that more people can be part of the gathering, whether you’re coming on your own, bringing your family, gathering with friends, need a more accessible price, or have the capacity to help someone else join us.

Every option is a different way of taking part in the same gathering: and supports us as an organisation operate with integrity.

Our food is locally sourced, and organic from neighbouring farms, our venue is a GMO free farm, we pay all our staff and facilitators.

To do things right, and well means investing in our people and good ingredients.

Find the ticket that feels right for you and come gather with us this October.

What does it mean to leave a legacy?

For us, a tree we plant today becomes shade for someone we may never meet. A seed we offer the ground will fruit food, to the one who tends it in a following season.

At Primal we focus on what we can contribute and offer, to practice being of service without any interest of gain.
A concept borrowed from Seva, that is woven in many ashram traditions.

To embody what it means to become stewards.

Eight years of gathering have created a story that belongs to everyone who has shown up and added something to it.

We’ve planted over 7000 trees, with some fruiting and contributing to seabuckthorn products at @42acres and others sold by a local community to their neighbours generating up to €8,000 euros.

This October, you have the chance to become part of that story too.
