Week 1 of The Whimsy and Wonder Art Club has come to a close friends. I am completely overwhelmed by all of you who have joined in on the fun. If you are late to the party we are now moving on to Week 2, but please feel feel to draw or paint Paul and keep posting and hashtagging him! I have big plans for an amazing book by the end of this year, so keep sharing!!!

As of this morning we had 71 artists worldwide join the club and each create a Paul work of art, a few of you made more than one! In this post you’ll see a few highlights! Some of the mediums used are paint, color pencils, water color, digital drawing, paper collage, photo montage, fabric, clay, mosaic tiles, card making and a combination of all of the above. Paul even visited Tel Aviv!

Thank you, thank you, for participating everyone! I can’t wait to see all the amazing works of art we will all create together this year! This has been an amazing start of 2022!

PS. I can only tag 20 people in this post so I have missed a few artists. Please visit the hashtag #whimsyandwonderartclub to see everyone! ❤️🤍💙

“What I Wore to the Disco,” 6” x 6” acrylic on wood panel with 1-5/8” deep sides. Today’s painting is fulfilling another requirement for our upcoming Fifteen Squared show at @thebarefootspa – 15 artists, displaying 15 paintings, and at least 3 works need to be in the category of “the 70s” (which I assume means the decade, not the age-group.) But this piece is also part of my #100daysofencouragement project —a shout out to @shelfaye . Nova Scotia-born, Shelley Hicks Cameron, identifies as an art maker, plant assassin, and shoe compulsive. (BTW – you KNOW part of the reason I selected Shelley today is the whole plant assassin thing — after my true confessions in yesterday’s post!) But I digress....Having trained in dental hygiene and nutrition, Shelley brings a keen awareness of how objects occupy space to her drawings and paintings. I envy her discipline of sketching regularly (and her drawing skills, too — let's just be honest). And I appreciate her explorations of creating with her non-dominant hand. But what I love most about her work is her shoe paintings. I don't know what it is about footwear that I just find so charming as a still life subject. Maybe it's because my poor, flat, tortured feet (and fragile ankles and general klutziness) preclude me from actually wearing so many types of cute shoes??!? And right now, anything that isn’t a post-surgical boot is considered cute footwear! But whatever the cause, I think Shelley's shoe paintings are brilliant. Please check out her artwork, draw your own inspiration, become a follower, and send her some words of encouragement today. We can #makeadifference by how we recognize and support one another. Let’s take the #pathofgenerosity #sharethelove #offerkindness #liftoneanotherup #supportlivingartists #beablessing and #practicegratitude because #artistssupportartists is only right! #the100dayproject #weallrisetogether
