Borough Market 🍄‍🟫

I’ve been trying to find a perfect first post for my food account, and naturally I need to start with my fave place in the whole world - Borough Market.

You may know it for its viral “chocolate strawberries” and seafood paella, but truly it’s the crowd, hustle and bustle and buzzing atmosphere that keep me coming back

So I hope you guys enjoy my recent eats!!

Shellseekers Market Kitchen (Prawns) - 9/10

Marinade and size of the prawns were close to PERFECTION. If paired with a little dipping sauce and having a bit of a char to the prawns, this could easily be the most perfect starter in the markets.
Slightly pricey for 6 prawns, but worth it for the size and taste

Fish! - 7.5/10

Very good customer service and size (per London serving) with an incredible tartare sauce on the side.
Perhaps the batter was a little bland (I also forgot to ask for salt on the chips…) but overall, one of the better chippies I’ve had in the city.

Tacos Padre - 7/10

Refreshing for the summer, the chips and guac act as a gorgeous snack during the heat. Would have loved a bit more salsa in the fish taco (personal choice) but overall very good mexican :)

Wild Mushroom Risotto - 8.5/10

This dish, 10 years ago, is the reason why I LOVE mushrooms now. The cheese, the salt, the variety of mushrooms are insane. The workers there are so lovely and the queue moves super fast too

Some cute Lavender Soaps to add to the mix

This concludes my love letter to Borough Market, until next time 🫶

Scenes from London, pt. 1!!!
Straight off the plane and into the arms of one of my favorite places, @smokinggoatbar, for a welcome-back Thai pub dinner of curried crab, barbecued scallops, stir-fried squid with salted duck egg, a show-stopping lacquered pork belly chop and more. Can’t get enough of the place and @insta_alb stays killing it. Had a quick but as-ever stellar meal at @dishoom (and brought back a few souvenirs from their ever evolving pantry/home line). Hoofed it to @boroughmarket to meet up with one of my best friends from high school; she’s been living in Madrid for more than a decade but just happened to be in London at the same time so we made a meal of multiple market vendors, including some of the largest oysters any of us had ever seen, thanks to Scotland and Ireland by way of @shellseekers98. We popped into @blackfriarpub. We walked past @the_globe. We walked by a guy extremely familiar with the birds along the Thames. Went to a punk show at @thegeorgetavern (save the George Tavern), meandered through @oldspitalfieldsmarket, meandered all over the place, got charmed by the institution that is @linastores. So much more to come but here’s a bit for now, and already missing it. (How could I not be??)

This week, octopus made the menu! Slow-cooked until perfectly tender, then finished with simple, fresh flavours that let the ingredient shine. And served with a fennel, spinach and tomato casserole. 🐙🍅🍋 Yum!
