POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

He was in the room when THRILLER took off. Literally.

This week I sat down with music executive T.C. Tompkins - Head of Promotions at CBS Records when Michael Jackson released Thriller.

And what he saw behind the scenes will change how you see MJ forever.

We all know Thriller became the biggest album in the world. But T.C. takes us inside the building as it was happening - the phone calls, the strategy, the moment they realized this wasn't just an album, it was a movement.

But here's what stuck with me most:

At a time when ARTISTS had no power... when labels controlled everything... Michael controlled the room.

T.C. talks about Michael's business intelligence. His industry savviness. How he wasn't just a genius in the studio - he was a genius in the boardroom. He knew exactly what he wanted, how he wanted to be positioned, and he created the opportunity to become the biggest artist in the world. He didn't wait for permission. He took it.

This is not the Michael Jackson story you've heard before. This is from the man who was promoting the records.

Full interview out now on Halftime Chat / New Jack Swing Podcast - link in bio. You do NOT want to miss this one.
