Since Not in Our House and the Chicago Theatre Standards, our city has been considered an epicenter of caring innovation. It’s time, after We See You White American Theater and the pandemic’s gap in knowledge transmission, to reexamine our best practices and share a more common vocabulary. In this roundtable, a cultural consultant, an intimacy choreographer, an access specialist, and the founder of Anti-Racist Theatre walk into a coffee shop to collaborate on a non-exhaustive, step-by-step guide to their ideal process — built around intentionality and the speed of trust — from show selection, to harm prevention and repair, to possibilities for transcendent belonging, to the final bow.

The Revolution is not over… it has just begun. This has been the most insane and exciting show that I have ever done in my life. With these people and more we have done groundbreaking work and made art that it shaking the earth around us. I am so greatful to the cast and the entire team for supporting each other and creating a real family. I have made sisters, brothers, best friends, and cousins. This family that we call a cast will stick with me forever. And as the booty ambassador of the team….DAMN WE FINE! Let’s get this party started 🎸
