Day 3 of the Artist Slipmat Series, documented.

One last day at OUTLET Art & Design Fest. 📸

9 artist designed slipmats, DJ sets throughout the day, and one final round of people stopping by, discovering the works, spending time at the booth, and taking home their favourite pieces.

Over the past 3 days, it’s been amazing to see the Artist Slipmat Series come to life through the artists, DJs, friends, and everyone who shared the space with us. 🧡

Thank you to everyone who came through, supported the artists, picked up a limited edition slipmat, danced along to the DJ sets, or simply dropped by.

And that’s a wrap on the Artist Slipmat Series at OUTLET Art & Design Fest. Thank you for having us. 🧡

It‘s Merdeka Month! 🇲🇾 To celebrate the spirit of Malaysia, throughout this month we’ll be featuring talented homegrown brands, sharing their stories, and celebrating the creativity and passion behind each one.

Our first feature is Perlibahasa by Sherwan Rozan - an illustrated collection of 30 Malay proverbs featuring animals.

The idea for Perlibahasa began with a curious conversation in a garden about how certain plants came to have their peculiar Malay names. Inspired by his love of geometric shapes, abstract patterns, wordplay, and a touch of sarcastic humour, Sherwan brought these beloved Malay sayings to life through playful illustrations of the unsuspecting animals at the heart of each proverb.

A thoughtful celebration of language, culture, and design, Perlibahasa is a beautiful reminder of the richness of Malaysia‘s storytelling traditions. 🇲🇾

Last Saturday, OUTLET and Listen HiFi Cafe welcomed artists for the first look at the Artist Slipmat Series.

So, what’s a slipmat? It’s the soft mat that sits underneath a vinyl record on a turntable. For this project, 9 artists transformed it into unique, collectible works of art.

The preview brought artists together to share ideas, spark conversations and celebrate the creative community before the festival begins.

This was just the beginning.

The full Artist Slipmat Series will be on display at OUTLET Art & Design Fest, alongside 80+ independent artists and brands, an art market, workshops, talks, live DJs, food, drinks and more.

📍 The Campus Ampang
🗓️ 7–9 August 2026

🎟️ Festival passes are available now via @outlet__kl

Come explore the full festival and experience all 9 artist-designed slipmats in person. 🧡

Meet @sherwanrozan - one of the featured artists in the Artist Slipmat Series.

Sherwan Rozan (b. 1989) is a self-taught Graphic Artist based between his hometown Johor Bahru, and Kuala Lumpur. Drawn to overlooked details in spaces and objects that would otherwise seem mundane, Sherwan contemplates these trivialities and conceptually constructs them as his subjects in an almost compulsive manner to bring into being his own abstract interpretation. He utilises a systematic approach that consists of decontextualising the narrative into representational elements, and reconstructing them using geometrical shapes and patterns.

Seeing that his body of work predominantly starts with a digital artboard, he has explored various mediums to materialising his art such as paintings, murals, prints, and more. Some of Sherwan’s notable projects include murals for TikTok (Malaysia) and Facebook (Singapore), the ‘Buat Rumah Sendiri’ art installation for OUTLET x Nelissa Hilman , and his self-published graphic art book titled ‘Perlibahasa’.

🎟️ Secure your Festival Pass via the link in our bio and experience the showcase from 7–9 August at The Campus, Ampang.

An artful weekend of crafts, portraiture, living room concerts, and sculpture artists. (With the usual dosage of wine and good company to cure this aching heart)
