We won! We're so excited to share that Our Survival Day by Our Songlines has received the Tidy Towns Sustainability Award for Indigenous Culture on behalf of @keepaustraliabeautifulvic 🌿🖤💛♥️

From land, to sea, to animals, Aboriginal culture respects Mother Earth + Father Sky. Children are taught from an early age that we are one with nature, and to walk lightly on this earth.

Thank yous:
~ @oursurvivalday Founder: @itskaylas for leading the event with heart, authenticity, vision + courage. Someone who always walks lightly on this earth and leads by example to ~ Protect our Mother ~ 🌱
~ Jacqueline Salter & Caitlin Bello for writing our nomination
~ Our green partner @b_alternative who makes our event reusable and plastic free 💚
~ @mplandcare and @regenerating_farms who collaborate with us to plant trees and make our event carbon positive through the Biolink wildlife coordinator project on Bunurong Land 🌱
~ Our Survival Day vendors who enthusiastically sign the Protect Our Mother pledge and support our reusable model, as well as compost their food scraps 🥝 🥑
~ Our sponsors for 2025: First Peoples Health and Wellbeing, Monash University, Bunurong Land Council, Monash Health, Peninsula Health
~ + A big thank you to all of our volunteers, and to all of you who show up to support Indigenous culture and Protecting our Mother at Our Survival Day.

Some haikus for International Women's Day 💚 “Balance the Scales” is the official theme for #IWD 2026, highlighting the urgent need to ensure fair, inclusive, and accessible justice for every woman and girl.

Despite decades of progress, barriers to justice remain deeply entrenched. One in three women worldwide will experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime – yet most will never seek formal help or justice.

Across Australia, conviction rates for sexual assault cases remain persistently low – with the latest NSW figures revealing just an 11% conviction rate, underscoring the immense gap between legal protections and real outcomes for survivors.

UN Women Australia CEO Simone Clarke said: “Balance the Scales is a promise for every woman and girl to be safe, heard, and free to shape her own future. In 2026, unjust laws, policies, and ingrained barriers still stand in the way of fair and inclusive communities. This International Women’s Day, we are calling on Australians to join a movement for real action – to transform our justice systems, amplify marginalised voices, and ensure equality is not the exception, but the rule.”

First Nations women face especially complex challenges, including overrepresentation in the justice system, intergenerational trauma, and limited access to culturally safe legal support. First Nations women are 34 times more likely to be hospitalised due to family violence than non-Indigenous women, highlighting the urgent need for community-led, self-determined pathways that centre First Nations leadership.

🐧 Hanging with our feathered friends during the Breakwater Clean Up with @earthcarestkilda for @cleanupaustralia 🌊

Making sure we collect the rubbish before they pick it up for nesting. Plastic is not so fantastic as natural nesting materials drain, but plastic does not 🪹

So do it for the penguins - reduce your waste, reduce your plastic consumption, see it and bin it responsibly ♻️🗑️

Swipe through to see what we found - the good and the bad!

Penguins are currently moulting and looking super cute and fluffy!

Caring for land and sea Country, grow well djinan yawa-dji goyeep / little penguins 🐧 and friends

~ TW: This piece discusses DV ~

Where are my beautiful men?

The next few posts will be a little different to my usual lovey, earthy and poetry content.

In Australia, 1 in 6 women experience physical/sexual violence at the hands of a current or a former partner.

This number grows each year, as we become more silent as a nation.

This month, I signed up to do the @unwomenaust Safe. Everywhere. Always. challenge to walk 30kms over 16 days, as part of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.

And I some words fell out of my body and onto the page. And here's post two. Stay tuned for tomorrow's.

Here are my beautiful men. This is the unlearning, this is the growth. I know you. I see you. I hope your allyship reaches other men who still believe it's brave to not show your tears and all your beautiful fears. Please, continue being my beautiful men. And stand the hell up 💚

*TW: This piece discusses DV*

The next few posts will be a little different to my usual lovey, earthy and poetry content.

In Australia, 1 in 6 women experience physical/sexual violence at the hands of a current or a former partner.

This number grows each year, as we become more silent as a nation.

This month has been intense, because I signed up to do the @unwomenaust Safe. Everywhere. Always. Challenge to walk 30kms over 16 days, the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence. And I've really wanted to write about it and share about it. And as a woman, it's a really loaded thing to talk about. I've struggled to use my voice to share about it. It's not me standing up for animals or the environment - the voiceless. It's me standing up and asking society to do more for women including myself - the powerful, courageous, incredible females in the world who are still asking men to stop killing them. It's vulnerable. And it's something I question, why I am writing about this, and where are my beautiful men and why are they not writing about it and sharing about it? Why are they not wearing it on their t-shirts and marching? Why are they silent? Why is the majority still women? I know this is fundamentally an issue, and that men who realise they need to be in the conversation are the ones I feel most safe around. The ones who raise a female platform and share with other men about the issues, the ones who stand up to their mates in pubs or in private conversations when they say misogynistic comments.

And so last week, words fell out of my body and onto the page like they do. But it's taken me a few days to edit and create them into content.

So here's post one. Stay tuned for tomorrow's.

Here are my beautiful men. I know you. I see you. I hope your allyship reaches other men who still believe it's brave to not show your tears and all your beautiful fears. Please, continue being my beautiful men. And stand the hell up 💚

Hii, I had the joy of showcasing my work at the @leveragelens Film + Art Festival — my second little exhibit in Toronto. What a spectacular evening.

The films were deeply moving, and the room was filled with powerful, honest, and inspiring art. I showcased 2 photographs, 2 digital pieces, and 3 handmade collages — a small part of my heart in each.

Art has always been my first love. Between a full-time 9-5 and life’s pace, I’m slowly finding my way back to creating again. This night reminded me of why I started.
Thank you @selcallum for believing in me and making this happen 🌸 Thank you to my friends who volunteered for the event and for showing up for me. I appreciate you.
Here’s a little glimpse from a beautiful night. ✨
