Happy International Women’s Day! 🌎✨ As we celebrate the contributions made by women in the U.S and abroad, I want to lift up the power of us. When we intentionally convene to strategize, organize, and mobilize, we are able to embark, day by day, toward a future we’re all proud of.

Today, I want to honor the movement-shakers I’ve had the blessing to meet across the past few years while holding space to acknowledge the work that needs to be done. As we reflect upon #IWD, I hope that we’ll use this day, and everyday, to consider what we can do to ensure that our movements center the voices of those historically left behind.

Hey sis! Here’s your daily reminder to keep on building 💫

The most challenging part of scaling any initiative is consistency. As a college student balancing a full-time credit load among various responsibilities, it can be challenging at times to find balance amid it all, but don’t lose hope! It’s the small steps that we take every day— those seen and unseen— that matter the most.

At @SheShallSpeak, we’re building up for a year filled with sisterhood, joy, and uplifting the voices of Black women and girls 📣 Make sure to stick around and turn notifications on- you don’t want to miss it! 🤎

“If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” - Shirley Chisholm

Words can’t describe the blessing it is to speak at the 10th annual Girls Speak Out at the @UnitedNations in honor of International Day of the Girl (@dayofthegirlsummit). As we approach the 2030 deadline for SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), it is imperative that the voices of girls are incorporated into decision-making processes.

I spoke with regard to the importance of investing in girl's leadership, sharing my work with @SheShallSpeak and posing the question to @UNICEF of: “How will we intentionally collaborate with girls to rectify historic institutionalized inequities impacting girls from marginalized communities?” As echoed in my speech, all solutions to gender inequity devoid of critical examinations of the legacy of structural oppression will be ineffective. I was pleased to hear from representatives of UNICEF on the strides they have taken to support grassroots leaders in addressing the systemic root of the crisis facing our communities. Nevertheless, although progress has been made, there is more work to be done.

Today, I spoke on behalf of the cries of girls who’ve been silenced: of the Black girls who’ve been told that they are “unfit” for leadership and girls denied access to these rooms. I firmly believe that our presence is our power— as we show up, we will dismantle the chains that have historically kept us in bondage.

This speech serves as a continuation of a lifelong commitment to advocacy: a symbol of progress lighting the road ahead. Thank you, @ngowgg, for your support in preparation for this speech. Thank you to @moncadababy for nominating me for this opportunity. All glory goes to the Lord most high. ✨

All I can say is blessed 😭🤍

Thank you, @unfoundation & @girlupcampaign, for this feature in honor of Black History Month. Now more than ever, it’s imperative that we amplify the voices of Black women and girls; I’m beyond grateful for opportunities such as these to continuously advocate for the inclusion of Black voices in all spheres of life.

My story is one of challenges and triumphs. It’s a blessing to not only share it with the world but to use it to encourage other young people to lead with authenticity and an audacious boldness to leave our communities better than how we found them.

The link to read is in my bio! Thank you again to God, Girl Up, UNF, and everyone who has supported me on this mission. Please follow and support @SheShallSpeak to learn more about my work & how we seek to amplify the voices of Black women and girls across the globe. It’s only up from here! 🤍✨
