Taking a moment to appreciate and celebrate lesbian culture, history, and people today. Close to home, we have some amazing people on our team that we wouldn’t be the same without. A shoutout to our lovely lesbians!

Happy birthday @shevyhonda thank you for being such a pillar in my life! The ups and downs have been crazy but we have always had each others back no matter what!
You know many people say it to their other queer friends but I think it’s true if we were straight we would probably be married 🤦🏻‍♂️😆
You know how keep me calm or even when I just need to cry you let me cry! It’s funny to think how when we first met we both didn’t know how to feel about each other and now here we are riding the roller coaster called lie together! You deserve to be celebrated not just today but EVERY day! I hope you know how much you mean to me and how important you are in my life!
I love you so much and I can’t wait to see where life takes us next!

Coachella you may not be for everyone but god did I fall in love with you😍 I got to spend real quality time with my best friend over the weekend at one of the places 16 year old Gordy could only dream about. From getting to see my girls @katseyeworld dominate the stage and have a CRAZY crowd to going to see @sabrinacarpenter bring out @madonna on Friday night I knew I was set for something CRAZY about to happen! To the people I met to the people I got to see I loved every second of it! Thank you @shevyhonda for taking and picking me as your Coachella buddy this year you now don’t have to do ANYTHING for my birthday ever again. What a way to ring in Taurus season and it was with my other favorite Taurus (me being my first DUH)

⬅️What we heard
Over the past month, 400+ Black women in the public sector trusted us with their stories.

⬇️What we’re doing now
This Women’s History Month, we’re reviewing responses, conducting research, and pulling key insights. Those insights will become actionable recommendations for employers and support resources for employees, and we’ll share them with you.

➡️What’s next
We’re bringing 100 Black women and allies to Olympia to go beyond recommendations, focusing on what it takes to hold systems accountable, while also creating space for self-care.

The women in this video span state and local government, nonprofits, higher education, and beyond. They represent just a snapshot of the voices informing this initiative in partnership with Blacks United in Leadership and Diversity (BUILD).

It has been an absolute honor to be nominated for Non-Profit of the Year at the 2026 @thegsba Impact Awards. It’s been almost two weeks and we still can’t believe it!

Congratulations to @seattleopera for taking home the trophy and shoutout to the other nominees @lifelong_wa and @kcsarc —what you do for the community is amazing.

Thanks to our queerleaders Aireal (she/they), Kimmy Dia Black (she/her), Shevonda (any/all), LaCoda (she/her), Sunnie (they/them), and Spencer (he/him) for representing us 💚💙

In honor of Black History Month, Cheer Seattle celebrates the influence of black performers.

Dazzling Darling - Diamond Lil
Your favorite host of SPLITZ is the epitome of beauty and grace. Her spirit lights up any stage and her presence will send you into a fantasy you’ll never want to leave. Booked and busy this phenomenal performer exudes black excellence.

Stomp N Shaker - Shevonda
Whether it’s hitting stunts or shaking buns for funds, we can count on this queerleader to give you SPICE. As one of our co-captains and Marketing co-chairs, her dedication to the squad is commendable and we appreciate her leadership. Her energy is infectious and will have you throwing dollars to help our local 2SLGBTQIA+ nonprofits.

Godmother of Grunge - Tina Bell
Did you know the creator of Grunge was a Black woman from Seattle? As the leader of the band Bam Bam, she shaped the genre of Grunge as we know it today.

Black History happens every day! Cheer Seattle is grateful to have black leaders and influencers that keep joy in our community alive and thriving. Look forward to more posts this month highlighting Black Excellence.
