Rooted in a deep sense of place and belonging, Listening Project #12 gathers three extraordinary local acts for a sequence of performances tailored specifically for the festival’s theme of Homecoming. Uniting these distinct creative worlds in a single evening, this showcase stands as a vibrant celebration of the depth, richness, and artistic spirit of West Cork. Lisa Hannigan is an acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and artist celebrated for her captivating vocals, intricate musicianship, and deeply expressive lyricism. Ever since launching her solo career with the critically acclaimed, Mercury Prize- and Choice Music Prize-nominated debut Sea Sew, she has established herself as one of Ireland’s most distinctive musical voices. Across standout releases including Passenger and At Swim, as well as high-profile collaborations and film projects, Lisa continues to mesmerize audiences worldwide with her unique blend of delicate folk intimacy and rich, expansive soundscapes. Shimmer Boy is the music project of west Cork artist and songwriter Aaron O’Sullivan. Known for his immersive soundscapes and delicate, textured production, he blends atmospheric indie-folk with rich, multi-layered arrangements. Crafting songs that are both deeply personal and expansively cinematic, Shimmer Boy creates an evocative musical experience that lingers long after the final note. Muiris McAlea is a Skibbereen musician and songwriter known for his compelling musicality, rich instrumentals, and grounded approach to songcraft. Blending nuanced acoustic textures with evocative melodic depth, his work creates an atmosphere of quiet intensity and emotional honesty that draws listeners in. Unfolding across three separate sets, Listening Project #12 is a luminous, heartfelt tribute to local artistry and the timeless pull of returning home. #westcork #skibbereen #livemusic

Just Announced + On Sale Now Shimmer Boy Friday Jan 15th. Shimmer Boy is the indie project of Cork songwriter and guitarist Aaron O’Sullivan, blending folk, alternative rock and heart-felt songwriting. With 15+ years of experience as a working musician, he is quickly building a name as one of Ireland’s emerging independent artists. Following the release of his debut album In The Aftermath, We Bloom, Shimmer Boy has picked up strong momentum across radio, television and live performance. “Hideaway” earned RTÉ 2FM Track of the Week and Radio Recommended recognition, while “Faith In You” marked his television debut on RTÉ One. His music has also reached an international audience through a sync placement for “Under The Surface” in the UK series Made in Chelsea. In 2026, Shimmer Boy performed at Electric Picnic, sold out his headline show at Cork’s Coughlan’s, and was selected as 96FM’s Local Hero in association with Hot Press. He has also shared stages with Dave Lofts, Oscar Blue and Robert Grace. With a growing catalogue, national radio and television support, international sync experience and a rapidly developing live profile, Shimmer Boy is carving out his own space within Ireland’s independent music scene.

My first big concert as a kid was AC/DC. Dad took me up to Punchestown in Kildare, filled with 80000 fans, and we stood and watched this top tier rock show from the thick of the pit. I remember it being LOUD, as I stared in awe at these guys absolutely killing it. I had that moment of ‘I wanna do what they do.’ I undoubtably practised 8-10 hours a day in my teens. Music was and still is my escape, nirvana, my meditation if you will. Between studying music for half my life & later delving into songwriting, my presence & authenticity has always been with the guitar, particularly in heavier genres, but that’s broadened in my maturity. Liam and I have collaborated on dozens of songs over the years, with various set ups, chapters & shows of all kinds. A couple of weeks ago we both decided it was time to do the thing. Expect an albums worth from us in the near future. This is something we cooked up in just over an hour yesterday.
