41 years designing at Nike. The first Black designer in the athletic footwear industry. The man behind the Air Jordan 16 & 17, Agassi’s Air Flare and so many more.

2. You designed the 16 and 17 with Michael Jordan. What did MJ do in the room that nobody ever saw?
3. How do you think about designing for the street vs designing for performance?

Last Saturday, we hosted The Future of Opportunity, with support from W+K Soul.
We focused on the question that is crossing everyone’s mind right now: what does The Future of Opportunity look like for me?

A keynote by Mayor Travis Stovall of the City of Gresham really put things into perspective: we are living in times where you are also the creator of opportunities. The panel emphasized on being intentional with your circle, using your Why to get you into rooms you didn’t think existed before and learning ways to make yourself valuable in the marketplace.

We then had three crash courses or master classes that are still being talked about as we speak. All with the emphasis of Future series that could take place again: AI Governance, Branding and Design Thinking.

It was a day that really ended with a beautiful social hour at Wieden + Kennedy’s rooftop on a sunny day.

Thanks to everyone who attended and made the time for upskilling and networking. Huge shout out to Mayor Travis Stovall for your encouragement. Thank you to @moniqueserrell @duck4threee @astor_aka_ac and Nina Bird for one of the best panels we have ever hosted!
