Hi! Thought we’d share a bit about who we are and why we started this business😊

We are Steven and Hannah, and we have 2 babies, Lucy and Mason. We met on HHI at @sandbarbeacheats in 2017. Hannah was working for @shorebeachservice and Steven was working in hospitality for one of the hotels on the island. We were planning to get married at @coastaldiscoverymuseum in 2020, but had to cancel due to covid 😩 we got married at the courthouse and did a staycation honeymoon at the @westinhhi. In 2023, we welcomed Lucy, and in 2025, Mason. Safe to say, we know HHI very well 🏖️🤍

We started this business after years of traveling to visit family in KY, CO, and NJ. Kids require A LOT to keep them comfortable and safe, and hauling everything on a plane or in a car is stressful, taxing, and simply just annoying and inconvenient. That’s when we thought about how family friendly HHI is and how we could really help families traveling by providing clean, safe equipment straight to their rental. We thought about how much we would love that service when we travel, so why not start that here? Our goal is to alleviate that added stress when packing and traveling.

We spend extra time cleaning and inspecting every piece of equipment, and we promise we would never let your babies use anything that we wouldn’t allow our babies to. Cleanliness and safety are our top priority. From one parent to the other.

Thank you for an incredible first summer 🫶🏼 Our customers far exceeded our expectations for our first year in biz and we’re so grateful for them trusting us!

When every second counts, training matters. 🛟

Here’s a look at one of our Code X (submerged victim) training scenarios. These drills are designed to simulate the urgency and teamwork required when responding to one of the most critical emergencies a beach lifeguard can face.

Our guards regularly practice victim recognition, coordinated water rescues, rapid extrication, CPR readiness, and seamless communication—because preparation before an emergency is what makes the difference during one.

We hope these skills are never needed, but we’re committed to being ready if they are.

If you see our guards training on the beach, know that every repetition is helping us provide a safer beach for everyone.

🌊 Stay safe.

Meet Chris - BP105

First season with Shore? 2015

Fun fact about yourself? I’m a classical trained pianist

Favorite place to eat on/around Hilton Head Island? Frankie Bones

Where can we find you on your off days? Spending time with my family, fishing, or playing tennis.

Other than having an extra patrol, What do you like most about working at Shore Beach Service? - Working with all of my friends over the years

What makes a great lifeguard? - Taking the time to speak and work with the public.

Craziest/most memorable thing you’ve seen on the beach? - We had a honey bee 🐝 swarm take over a persons beach wagon. We had to leave it for 2 days til the swarm decided to move on.

Thanks Chris for all you do!

The kind of family vacation that actually felt like a vacation. 🤍

We spent four nights on Hilton Head Island with our little kids and found some definite keepers.

Here are 5 things we’d absolutely do again, from where we ate to the little things that made beach days so much easier.

Save this for your next Hilton Head family trip and tell me what we need to add to our list for next time.

our #1 tip: make the beach easy

Stay somewhere with easy access to both the beach & pool.

We rented chairs and an umbrella from Shore Beach Service, so everything was waiting for us each day. I actually worked there for two summers in college, which made this one a little full-circle for me. ❤️

save an evening for Sea Pines

Wander Harbour Town, grab dinner & end the night with Gregg Russell under the Liberty Oak. 🎶

Such a sweet Hilton Head tradition with little kids.

put this playground on your list

The Adventure Playground at Lowcountry Celebration Park has a huge pirate ship, sand & water play, and cannons that actually spray water. 💦

make the wait part of the fun

Skull Creek Boathouse doesn’t take reservations, but the boat playground, gaga ball & live music make waiting easy.

Grab a cocktail and stay for sunset. They even have ice cream next door. 🍦

book this one ahead

Fishcamp takes reservations and the kids loved playing in this little boat before dinner.

Don’t skip the crispy calamari & pickles or the tuna two ways apps!

until next time, Hilton Head 🤍
