POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

To my children, my forever parts of my heart walking outside of my body,

I miss you guys so much that my heart aches to be with you again.

I want you to know something. Being on this trip made me realize that when I planned this solo trip, it was never because I needed a long break from you. That could never be true.

What I needed a break from was the never-ending responsibilities that come with being a mother. The laundry, the cooking, the cleaning, the endless to-do lists, and the constant effort of making sure everyone's physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs are met. Day in and day out, for so many years.

If I could just spend time with you guys, simply enjoying your company, laughing, talking, exploring, and being together without the weight of all those responsibilities on my shoulders, I don't think I would have needed to go away for this long.

As much as I'm enjoying myself, experiencing beautiful places and doing things I've wanted to do for so long, there's a part of me that wishes this trip had come about differently. That I could have taken this time for myself from a place of joy and freedom, rather than feeling like I had reached a point where I desperately needed it.

But here I am. And somehow, the way everything unfolded, I find myself caught between the plans I've made for myself and the overwhelming desire to just come home and be with you.

I want to enjoy this time, because I know how much I've needed it. But I also miss you more than I can put into words.

I hope you always know that I never needed a break from loving you or being with you. I just needed a break from carrying so much.

I love you, my babies, oh so much. 💞

Forever and always,

Your Ammi! ❤️

Jabal Al Nour, the place where Rasul Allah ﷺ received the first revelation of the Qur’an. Subhan’Allah, standing in a place so deeply rooted in our deen felt surreal. We chose to hike this steep mountain hoping to catch even a glimpse of what it might have felt like for our beloved Prophet ﷺ.

Alhamdulillah for the spiritual pep talk by Br. Zayd (@sirah_alive) beforehand. It was much appreciated and truly set the tone for what was to come.

But the journey up wasn’t easy. We were jet-lagged, some of us were unwell, and it was especially tough for our two youngest. And then there was the crowd, something we hadn’t expected at all. In fact, there was so much we didn’t anticipate, like the shopping center now sitting at the base of the mountain. I had imagined something quieter, more untouched, just nature, stillness, and reflection.

Yet Subhan’Allah, even through all of that, there was khayr in the experience. Because sometimes the lesson isn’t in recreating the past exactly as it was, but in the intention we carry and the effort we make to draw closer to it.

I am so, so proud of my kids for pushing through, even though it was an extremely arduous hike. I pray the barakah of being in such a special place has entered their hearts and will be a means of lifetime guidance.

I only wish we could have entered the cave itself and prayed two rak‘ah where our Rasul ﷺ once stood in devotion. But the line was far too long, and with the kids and our time constraints, it just wasn’t possible. Perhaps we will return again, on our own time, for that opportunity, in shaa Allah.

We didn’t get what we expected, but we got what Allah willed for us. And for that, Alhamdulillah always.

Happy birthday, Ibubibu! It’s not every day your firstborn son turns 16! Time to start applying for jobs! 🤪
I’m not going to cry over how fast these years have gone by and how quickly you have grown, but no matter what, you’ll always be little in my heart. I pray Allah SWT guides you in every way and grants you success in this dunya and akhirah. I love you so much, my sweet, smart, handsome boy!
Always and forever,
Ammi
