Community. Friendships. Supporters. Teachers. Mentors. Leaders. Role Models. Backup Dancers.

Who knew I’d meet this kick-ass group of beautiful, talented women and be inspired, supported and cheered by them to reinvent a future and dream big.

Feeling pretty lucky. ♥️

What a treat for be able to do a weekday getaway with some beautiful people and some beautiful dogs. Between 5 women, we own 10 dogs. We had 6 this time but we could’ve brought all 10. We all have the same mind set, same training goals and respect for each other - human and dog.

We spent the days scoping out the ocean and venturing between the trees. And we spent the evenings under cozy blankets enjoying our love for cheese and wine.

Aside from the dogs, these women are some of the most amazing people I have ever met. All different ages but souls quite alike. How lucky are we to have found each other somehow.

Thanks @showmethexolo for hosting! Hope you don’t mind we are staying for longer next round 🩵

It’s me and my Christmas miracle being silly yesterday! Almost 3 months ago, mum had a stroke that the ER Doctor misdiagnosed as a migraine and sent her home. She went back to the ER a few days later to be readmitted for a few days for further testing under a whole new care team at the stroke center here who performed over 40+ blood tests (that’s 40 viles of blood in 3 days), MRIs, CT Scans, bubble tests (ultra sound), to finally come to the conclusion that she had a ACA/CVA on her right side which explained the deficits on her left side at that time. With lots of PT, OT, Speech therapy, visits from her brothers and sister in law from the East Coast, along with my godpawrents and family here in the Bay, she’s made a speedy recovery. I particularly want to thank my god papa, Em, for making sure mum got back from her surgeries/procedures okay and made time to stay at the house with her on those days until she was okay to function on her own. I also want to thank my god papa Mookey who helped mum move all the heavy things around in the house for the past few months because she is crazy and OCD and can’t do everything on her own yet even though she wants to. Shout out to my grandpa Satan who came to spend a week with us early this month from Washington DC to give us support and company at home. And I want to thank my (chosen) family and xolo family for sending her flowers, pooling funds for DoorDash/Grubhub/Uber and for always giving their love and support from far away. I also want to thank my Papa Asatur for taking care of me when mum had her surgeries and couldn’t care for me. I know mum makes it all look easy, but I get to see her struggle everyday at home and wish I could do more but I don’t have thumbs to clean up after myself and walk myself…..and she really could not have gotten this much better without you all! Community love really provides strength! So thank you to everyone that helped make these past few months bearable for my mum and I. We are forever grateful!

We’re ready for 2025, HBU? 🥹🤲🏽🎄💜

At the end of December 2023, I decided to take the red pill of dog training. I am not a dog trainer, but an owner of a reactive dog. We have always managed, but deep down in my heart I knew was getting tired. I wanted more for Sylvester. I found very few people understood this - always asking if they could pet him/why couldn’t I just bring him along/can’t I just leave him with anyone if I ever went on vacation. It felt redundant to explain why. It felt very lonely.

The last 3 days I got to spend it with @thegooddogtraining and group of people who understood. They came from the same place.

Sylvester and I were so lucky to do a session, and although we did not get to work on a certain strange behaviour-our session revealed just exactly how complicated he was. Mostly importantly it exposed the missing piece of the puzzle so we are now able to continue our journey.

I am so thankful for this intense yet insightful and knowledgeable weekend-but especially the old and new friends I got to meet at this seminar. The support is over pouring and will remind you keep an open mind…this maybe hard now, but you eventually get over that hump-and the reward on the other side is worth it. You just have to stick with it, pivot, and try.

Thank you Sean & Marta 🐾 📚

Community. ✨ What an amazing weekend of learning, listening, supporting, and challenging existing practices and beliefs - all with a spirit of collaboration and open mindedness among old and new friends of this stellar dog training COMMUNITY. ✨

Incredibly grateful that Sean and Marta of @thegooddogtraining accepted our invitation to come up to Vancouver and share their perspectives and knowledge from their years of experience with training dogs of all ages, breeds and temperaments, including those with more serious challenges.

Worth the months of wait and the ticket cost - I’d do it all again next week if I could - maybe after a few days of sleep though… ;)

Incredible to get to know all the attendees and meeting folks face to face that I’d only spoken to online - Feeling very thankful for this supportive and growing community of ours that stretches beyond borders. ✨

Somehow between losing my soul dog to cancer and training my reactive dog, I found an incredible group of women who are just as crazy about their dogs as mine. Because of them, I was able to hold Diamond for longer-and I was as able to get Sylvester to where he is today. They held me up when my heart was so heavy from the grief. Today we left them at home and went for lunch. I wanted to try this place forever, and who better to enjoy perfectly cooked eggs at a place with a name that translates to “my pooch”? We tried so hard but naturally we ended up talking about them.

I am at this age where I am sure I belong in some sort of book club…but in my opinion, this is way better than any other club.

Cheers to you, beautiful dog moms. I’m so thankful I found you.
