I was a REALTOR for 18 years — and the way AI, search, and consumer behaviour are quickly evolving is completely changing how I think about relationship-based, high-trust businesses. …And how I feel about giving referrals. Today, I’m working with some of the best professionals — people I refer to as invisible experts — to help them show up online and in AI-powered search results the way that they deserve. Confident. Credible. Experienced. Trustworthy. It doesn’t have to be hard. You don’t have to become a content creator… You just have to show your proof. 👀👉 @showyourproof — Shoutout to Virginia Elder (@podcastabundance) for having me on the Podcasting For Financial Professionals podcast! Check out episode 127 to hear the full conversation. 🎙️ Ep. 127 — How Financial Advisors Can Get Recommended by AI Without Posting Every Day #aivisibility #aisearch #realtorlife #realestateagents #aiseo

AI slop is everywhere. Do yourself a favour — and don’t add to it. 🙃 Want to cut through the noise and build credibility, authority, and visibility in AI search? Start with your own ideas. Your own words. Your own voice. That doesn’t mean don’t use AI. But instead of asking ChatGPT to pump out another 100 generic articles for your website, start capturing the expertise you’re already sharing every day. 🎙️ Record an intentional Zoom conversation with a colleague.
🎙️ Answer questions as a podcast guest.
🎙️ Talk through a problem you’ve helped a client solve. These are opportunities to document your thinking, share original perspectives, and create something genuinely valuable for your online footprint. And the more you make that expertise visible, the more you give search engines and AI tools to discover, understand, and potentially recommend. One good idea, backed by real expertise, can be worth more than 100 articles saying nothing new. That’s what I mean when I talk about showing your proof. I joined Virginia Elder (@podcastabundance) on Podcasting for Financial Professionals to talk about how experienced professionals can use podcasting to build discoverable authority — without having to post every day. 🎧 Episode 127: How Financial Advisors Can Get Recommended by AI Without Posting Every Day Watch the full episode ⤴️ and find me over at @showyourproof for more tips on AI visibility strategies for professionals. #AIsearch #AIseo #AEO #AIvisibility #podcasting

"Get referenced or cited." Ashley Smith on how AI search decides whose name comes up. Step one is getting onto other people's platforms: their publication, their newsletter, their show. Mentions you do not control carry more weight with AI tools than another post on your own feed. Watch the full clip, then tell us the last outside publication that ran your name. Podcasts can help you get found by AI search — and guess what else? 👀⤵️ Showing up as a guest can help you fast-track your searchable authority. But what I hear all the time is this: 🗣️ “Podcasting is saturated.”
There are *many* reasons this simply isn’t true — but my core message is this… 👇 Most people (especially professionals) are thinking about podcasting all wrong in the AI search era.

You don’t need a huge audience for podcasts to have impact. 🤔⤵️
Today, sharing your credibility, expertise, and nuanced point of view through human conversations can lead to real discoverable authority online — as long as your words are documented.

🎙️ Original stories. 🎙️ Transcripts. 🎙️ Descriptions. 🎙️ Links.
🎙️ Being platformed as a trusted voice — by someone else.

All linking to you in the right way. That’s huge. 👉 And there are ways to optimize every single appearance. If you’re interested in learning more — about podcasting, best practices, for hosts and for prospective guests... Put “Podcasting Made Simple LIVE” in your calendar. 📆 Brought to you by: @podmatch_com

At their next live event (January 2027), I’ll be sharing everything I’ve learned about podcasts, AI search optimization, and the ROI of showing up as a guest. An incredible lineup of keynotes and sessions is scheduled. Can’t wait! 🙌

Can AI actually understand what you do well enough to recommend you? Here’s a quick test: Open an incognito browser and search your name + your profession. Then, search for the kind of professional your ideal client would need, without using your name. Do you show up? More importantly, do the results actually reflect your expertise? If not, the answer is NOT “create more content.” It’s create clearer proof. Publish your unique, human perspective, your answers to questions clients ask, the patterns you see, and the way you think through problems based on experience. That is the kind of content that helps both people and AI understand what makes you different! Listen to my full conversation with Ashley Smith.

Do you want AI to recommend you? Or more importantly — do you want to look like a credible expert when people look you up? Here’s the good news — if you’re a professional and generally good at what you do… AI + search is a game changer. You don’t have to be an influencer, “content creator”, social media pro, or willing to commit a ton of time to learn a bunch of new tech, tools, or platforms algorithm hacks. You just have to show up. You have to show proof. Proof of what you know and do. It doesn’t have to be hard. Or a crazy commitment. I recently had a chat with Jeremy Yang, founder of Digital Goliath, on his podcast “Marketing & OPs for SMEs” to discuss why experienced professionals are increasingly getting overlooked online (and losing referrals) despite being great at what they do. ▶️ Full episode on @digital_goliath_marketing’s podcast. Find in today’s story. 👈 We chat about how Google and AI search are changing the ways people find and vet professionals and services. Do your show your proof online? ✅ Yes? 👉 Tell me how! ❌ No? 👉 Why not? Who am I? 👀 Well... I recently asked my AI for an overview. I’m trying to streamline a workflow that connects me to certain content — across initiatives. NGL. It’s pretty good. Good enough to use as a lazy intro to anyone who doesn’t know me, or for those who’ve been confused by my “stuff” lately. A bit about me... according to my ChatGPT: (oh and yes, I’m also a Canadian mom to a toddler 🙋‍♀️🍁) More in the comments… (ran out of room 😝) Across Canada Now, Show Your Proof, and Proof Talks there’s a common thread: your audience tends to be made up of thoughtful people trying to make sense of change, make better decisions, and understand what matters beneath the surface. I’d summarize you as a strategist, thought leader, and creator rather than focus on each individual project: “My audiences vary by project. The common thread is that I tend to speak to thoughtful, curious people who want to better understand what is changing around them and make smarter decisions about what comes next. They value practical thinking, strategic perspective, real-world experience, and ideas that help them see beyond surface-level headlines or conventional wisdom. They’re often interested in how business, technology, leadership, innovation, policy, markets, and professional life are evolving — and what those changes mean in practical terms. I like to help people connect dots, understand systems, recognize useful patterns, and think more clearly about the future without losing sight of present-day realities. My content can include thought leadership and forward-looking ideas, but I prefer it to stay grounded, useful, and connected to real people, decisions, experiences, and consequences. Depending on the project, the audience may be learning from an expert, considering a new way of thinking about an issue, looking for practical guidance, or trying to better understand how to navigate change in their own work or industry. I generally want people to leave my content feeling more informed, more thoughtful, and better equipped to form their own perspective — rather than simply being told what to think.”

Don’t skip this 30 second step if you make YouTube content and want better discovery in video, Google search, AI Overviews, and Gemini. Seriously. ALSO — anyone else getting fancy and making the same BIG mistake I was making? 👀 #youtubetips #aisearch #AIseo #businesstips #podcastingtips

AI is already picking up what I’m throwing down. 👀 Yesterday, I launched my live AI visibility audits initiative. Today, I Googled myself in incognito mode — and the search engine’s AI Mode was already talking about them. This is why I keep saying your online presence can change faster than you think — as long as you show your proof. Go to a private browser and look yourself up. Don’t love what you see? You can change things. And it doesn’t have to take long. #aisearch #aivisibility #aiseo #showyourproof #personalbrand

I’m taking AI visibility checks LIVE… 👀🔎 …over on TikTok. I’m starting to host LIVE sessions where I’ll look at how real people and their expertise, businesses, and work show up in AI search — and share practical ways they could improve what AI can find, understand, and trust about them. Want me to look you up? Or just curious to watch and learn? I’ll also be answering questions about AI visibility, AI search, and some of the practical things you can do to start showing up better. 🔴 I’m kicking things off Tuesday, September 15 at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET on TikTok. You can find me there at the same handle @ashleysmithnow 🙋‍♀️ 📆 I’ll put a direct link to the LIVE event in my Story if you’d like to register and get a reminder. This won’t be the only one — I’m planning to do more and see where this goes. 👀 Maybe I’ll look you up next. 🔎 #AIVisibility #AISearch #PersonalBrand #ShowYourProof #BusinessTips

Your bio sucks. Or at least it sucks at its job — if it’s the only thing online helping people understand what you do, what you’re great at, and who you best serve. I think about this more and more when I look up professionals I know. The ones I’d recommend in a heartbeat. The ones I do recommend. I know how they handle the complicated stuff. I’ve seen their judgment up close. But I have to be honest — too often I search their name and find a headshot (usually an old one), some credentials (that often mean very little to most people), and a few lines that could belong to almost any of their competitors. I still refer them. But I’m becoming more aware that the person I send their name to doesn’t know what I know. And I know they’re going to look them up. Wouldn’t you? And today that means they might get an AI overview or summary if they use Google or something like ChatGPT. But these tools need information. So if all you have online is a bio, it better be robust — and annoyingly long to read. (I’m joking, mostly.) I’ve yet to see a bio that fully captures the judgment and experience of someone who’s spent years getting good at their work. That’s the gap I wish more people would check for: the disconnect between what you’ve proven in real life and what someone can find about you online. I call it the Proof Gap. If this sounds familiar, you probably don’t need to suddenly spend your days making content. Start with work you’re already doing: the question you ask that changes a client’s thinking, a decision you helped someone make, the thing you explain so often you’ve forgotten it’s valuable. Put some of that somewhere people can find it. Not every day. But often enough that your bio isn’t doing all the heavy lifting. If someone looked you up today, what would they miss that your clients already know about you? #aivisibility #aisearch #onlinepresence #personalbranding #proofgap
