When Youth Leadership Meets Institutional Vision 🎨💚

At the @uhasghana, a student-led idea is evolving into a strategic #climate_health movement, one now recognized by the Vice-Chancellor for its distinctive positioning and long-term relevance. The GAYO Eco-Club continues to demonstrate how universities can serve as #incubators for Africa’s next generation of climate-conscious health leaders.

In a symbolic and decisive moment, the Eco-Club presented a climate change–inspired artwork to UHAS Management, highlighting the inseparable link between environmental sustainability and human health. The presentation was warmly received by the #ViceChancellor, Professor Lydia Aziato, who commended the students for their initiative and encouraged deeper integration of community engagement, health education, and advocacy in addressing climate change.

Led by @shredah.perps, #president of the GAYO Eco-Club #UHAS Chapter, the team emphasized that the use of art is part of a broader strategy, one that translates awareness into leadership and creativity into capacity. The Eco-Club also highlighted ongoing interventions, including menstrual hygiene education and sustainable waste management, reaching #UHAS, local basic and secondary schools, and communities within the Ho Municipality.

Other executives present, including Mr. Christopher Mensah (Deputy Secretary) and Ms. Deborah Afenu (Organizer), reinforced the Club’s commitment to youth empowerment, solution-driven climate action, and public education. We deeply appreciate @shredah.perps and her #team for their #leadership, #vision, and #dedication in advancing this work.

This recognition affirms a scalable model, anchored in #climatehealth, #youthownership, and #institutional collaboration, aligned with national and continental priorities on #climateresilience, #publichealth, and #youthemployment. This is how leadership is transferred. This is how systems change.

💡 Together, we can turn awareness into action.
