Baby's first artist residency at 20... I think I'm legit now...
I feel like I have been swallowed and consumed by the negativity that surrounds me, I am a very negative person to who I am and who I was and who I want to be so it's easy for me to get lost into how other people view me.
When I was doing SIFT when I was 16 Project Row Houses was introduced to me alongside their summer studios residency program. I knew in that instance that I wanted to be one of their artists in residency in the future, I can't believe that I actually did it..

My journey through college has been difficult so far, that city and my institution has drained me and I have struggled to find something to look forward to as motivation to keep going. PRH and my cohort is the best thing that could've ever happened to me. Kind genuine souls that all come from a similar background of mine, coming together to create this community that aids each other. WOW, I didn't think it was possible... I have found a sense of belonging from the moment I sat down on those foldable chairs during our intensive week.

I was fed well, I ate so good this summer and I am not talking about food, I'm talking about substance. Intellectual conversations that meant something, genuine care and love, undiscovered talent that started from the bottom up, and humanity.
Monáe, Jordn, Liz, Izz, Tega, you are one of a kind. I was so lost before I met y'all and I truly have no words to describe how much your presence has affected my life. All of PRH has made me remember that there are things I need to look forward too, and to keep going.

I want to be taken as seriously as I have been these 6 weeks. Your kindness has moved me.
It was so much fun being treated like I mattered as an artist and as a human, but now I have to go back to my PWI...

My heart hurts to say goodbye, it really does
But I am so happy it happened.
TQM, lots of love always

This is like my 15th post about this but idc this is my greatest achievement rn🤩

Guyssss! Floyd Newsum Summer Studios was such an amazing experience! I’ve learnt so much and met so many great people through this. I was in this place for 10+ hrs each day yo! rain or shine😭 But i still loved the experience nonetheless. I want to thank God for giving me this art ability. @projectrowhouses for giving young artists the opportunity to curate their own space and push themselves to create beyond what they can do.
The mentors @bleuran @nathaniel_donnett1 again I appreciate yall so much for the work you put in, the advice, and picking me! Yall are amazing🥹

AND MY AWESOME COHORT AYEEEEE. My cohort is literally the most artistic, talented, gorgeous, funniest, and weirdest set of people I’ve met. I love yall fr 🫶🏾

Lastly, Thank you to my family and the people who came to the reception (even after!). These people always supported me and wanted to see me succeed! Also they give me lots of great material for my art🙂‍↕️
