The first glimpse of a wedding day

There’s something so special about receiving a beautifully considered wedding invitation. The moment when the plans become real and the excitement begins.

We love seeing couples bring their wedding vision to life through the smallest details, from the paper and typography to the colours, textures and finishing touches.

For a wedding at Greyfriars Winchelsea, an invitation suite can set the tone for everything to come: romantic, timeless and full of character, just like the setting itself.

Your invitation is more than an invitation. It’s the beginning of your guests’ journey to your day.

From the layered linen and carefully folded napkins, to the beautiful glassware, polished cutlery and delicate place settings, each detail adds another layer to the overall look. Florals bring the table to life, while candlelight adds that warm, intimate glow that makes an evening feel extra special.

It’s not just about how the table looks, it’s about creating an atmosphere. A place where guests can sit, linger, raise a glass and enjoy the occasion.

Because the best tablescapes aren’t simply styled… they set the scene for memories. ✨

A photographers playground ✨

Some wedding venues are beautiful.

And then there are places where you could spend an entire day wandering around with a camera and still find something new to photograph.

Greyfriars is definitely the latter.

The ancient abbey ruins.
The Gothic manor.
The stone walls and archways.
The rose gardens.
The sweeping lawns.
The little hidden corners.
The incredible light.

Everywhere you turn there’s another backdrop, another texture, another little moment waiting to be captured.

There are so many spaces to wander, explore and simply be together. From the grand, dramatic moments beneath the abbey ruins to the tiny in-between moments tucked away in the garden. It never feels like the couple are simply standing in front of a pretty backdrop...
the surroundings become part of the story.

The Garden Room is a wonderfully versatile space, perfect for hosting a wedding ceremony for up to 100 guests or a wedding breakfast for up to 90.

For larger celebrations, you're welcome to add a marquee, allowing the Garden Room to transform into your dedicated evening reception and dance floor.

We love the endless possibilities this space offers, especially when paired with stunning floral installations and beautiful styling to create a truly unforgettable setting.
